Wowie! A new fangame review! Anyway, yeah, today I've decided to review a very old fangame called Five Nights at Nintendo Land, or just FNaNL for short. This fangame was made by a person called Frostys but reuploaded by other people like @Simone_CM . This is pretty much a "does it still hold up?" type of review, to see if the game is at today's standards. Anyway, without further ado, let's get into it!
1) Main Menu
Here is the main menu! Honestly, it looks pretty nice. The rain is a nice feature and Mario's render looks pretty cool.
My only problems with it are the fact that the fullscreen isn't actually fullscreen, it just shrinks your screen to the point where all you can see is the game's window.
Also, you may have noticed the password button. Instead of using a save system, this game has passwords which can be put into this screen to go onto further nights.
Honestly, all of these menus are pretty cool. I'm not the biggest fan of the password system however it isn't terrible. The menus themselves get an 8/10.
2) Office & Cameras
Here is the... well, it isn't an office. I'll just call it the garden. Anyway, yeah, here is the garden. You can use the flashlight to see pathways, with the middle one being literally useless.
My problem is that the flashlight controls are weird. Why not just have it so if you hover over a pathway it automatically lights up? Other than that, the office looks pretty cool however the rain is a bit too powerful.
Here are the cameras! There are 7 cameras in total. You don't have to use them until night 3, you'll see why. Anyway, this game uses Google images for the rooms which isn't a problem cause FNaW did it too and that is an amazing series.
I don't really have anything to say about the cameras, they're fine. Time for the characters!
3) Characters
Here are all of the characters in the game that you have to deal with.
Here is Pikachu. If you see him in the left pathway, go into the shed. He leaves the second you enter the shed so you are safe to leave the shed fast so you don't lose any Majora awareness... wait, what's that?
Here is Majora's mask, or just Majora. Majora prevents you from camping in the shed. That is all they do, alright character.
Here is Meta Knight, the one who got literally every Youtuber who played the game to die more than 5 times on night 2.
If you hear him flying through bushes, shine your light from right to left. Weird mechanic honestly.
Here is Sonic (he ain't a Nintendo character but he is in the game due to him being the creator's favorite video game character), if you hear his iconic sound shut the door on the cameras.
Here is Luigi (I legit have no clue what he is doing in this render lol), if you see him in the right pathway hide in the shed. Like Pikachu, he leaves instantly but he has the fastest kill timer.
Here is Mario, the last character in the game. He has multiple phases and when he is on his last phase you will need to wait for his last jingle to end. After that, wait 5 seconds and jump into the shed. You are free to leave it after his music resets.
Well, those are all of the characters, now time for some other stuff!
4) Other/Random Facts
Kirby was originally going to be in the game, however, he was scrapped due to an animating error. Despite this, he was still in the game's thumbnail and header since they were made before he was scrapped.
Captain Falcon was gonna be in, however, Frostys couldn't think of a mechanic for him so he was scrapped. However, at 5 AM In night 2 there is an easter egg related to him. His helmet can be found on the first camera and clicking on it will play a remix of Big Blue.
5) Final Thoughts
Honestly, this game was alright. It obviously doesn't hold up very well today since it is very old however it does have some redeeming qualities. I'll give this game a 7/10! Thanks for reading and buh-bye!
