Five Nights at Scratch: Remnants (Devlog 1)


Well, guess I lied about only making one post for this game. Whoops!

I thought it wouldn't hurt to showcase what's in the works right now and explain a little more about the game.

Progress has been going well so far! Most of the core mechanics have been implemented and a majority of the AI for the game has been completed. As of right now, I'm mainly redrawing / adding detail to the rooms seen in the cameras after having been using minimal artwork for them. You can see one of the first rooms I remade up in the images.

I'm sure you might be curious about the cast of the game as well, so I left some images of two animatronics in the post seen above! They're Scratch & Phil. The original clean versions were drawn by a good friend of mine who goes by the name TheDiscoToad. (He also helps tons on ideas and concepts for the game!)

You can see that I use them as a base to make edits to make them appear as they do in Remnants. FNAS:R is meant to take place after the closing of an old establishment and before the opening of a more modern establishment. The remnant versions of the animatronics you see here are leftovers of the old establishment who are eventually repaired into their modern versions. I guess you could say the game takes heavy inspiration of the lore behind FNAF 2 in a sense.

I'm not quite ready to showcase the gameplay yet, but just know it's meant to be somewhat more on the simpler side. You'll of course have cameras to keep tabs on the animatronics, but you'll also have the ability to scan the map to target certain animatronics. There's also closing the door in front of you, but it comes at a heavy cost of needing to be reset to close again, which takes time and a special resource of power. The animatronics will also all have different AI and gimmicks to keep the variety interesting.

That's all I have to show for now. I may do more devlogs in the future, but we'll see. Hope this gives you a little more detail into this small little game!
