Florida has hired former Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, worth $45 million for 6 years. His request to coach in the conference championship and potentially the playoffs was accepted. Tulane plays North Texas in the AAC Championship on December 5th.

On December 8th, 2023, Tulane announced that Jon Sumrall would be the next head coach for the Green Wave. He coached his first season for the Green Wave in the 2024 season.

2024: Led Tulane to a 9-5 record. Lost the AAC Championship game 35-14 vs Army. Lost the Gasparilla Bowl 33-8 vs Florida.

2025: Led Tulane to a 10-2 record so far. Will be playing in the AAC Championship game vs North Texas. With a win, Tulane will have a strong chance to make the College Football Playoff. So far, Jon Sumrall has led Tulane to two AAC Championship appearances, a bowl game appearance, and a potential CFP appearance. On November 30th, 2025, he accepted the head coaching job for the Florida Gators. Overall record at Tulane this far is 19-7.
