FNaF Anniversary Devlog

Hello, it's been a few months since the last proper devlog, and I've got some new info to share, and since it's FNaF's 11th anniversary, I might as well update you all.

Map Progress

Well, I'm here to tell you that the new map has basically been finished, it's still missing a few custom assets here and there, and maybe some bonus stuff, but overall the basic map and it's details are finished...

At long last... honestly it was kind of getting annoying that it wasn't finished, I honestly thought that it would be at max a 3 month process haha... yeah...

Since it's done I'm going to share what the new office looks and nothing else for now.

(Image taken with Lumen on Epic settings aka the best look for the game) (posters are also unfinished) (it's also subject to change still before release)

For those who are worrying if you'll still be able to play using baked in lighting don't worry, that'll be an option to use still.
Lumen will be an option too of course for those higher end PC's who want real time lighting.

Also... on my main profile I shared a very high quality video of the new map.

So if you missed that feel free to take a look.

Other Aspects

I'm sorry to tell you that just because the map is finished does not mean that the update is releasing soon, the updated map was just a part of the 3.1 update, albeit a big part nonetheless...

There's still a lot of work to be done for the rest of the game, think of it as a soft remake kind of, maybe a just an actual remake at this point lol.

I don't want to get into any technical details though, but just know there's a lot of work still ahead, which should hopefully be faster to work on compared to how long the map took...

Optimization & Specs

Optimizations

I also took some time to really optimize a lot of the game, from my testing the game's file size is now below 2GB as of writing this, and on the new map I managed to reduce VRAM usage by around 2GB as well.

Specs

Now I will say though that if you want to play the game on higher settings chances are you'll need a GPU that has 8GB of VRAM. If you got a GPU in the last 5 or so years then chances are you're probably fine.

Another thing is that the game is now using DirectX12, 3.0 and below was using DirectX11. So older systems that don't have DirectX12 might not be able to play the game unfortunately, although DirectX12 released all the way back in 2015 so most systems should be able to at least run the game in some capacity.

If you're wondering why we switched to 12 it's because it has more features that make development easier, and it also has proper Ray Tracing(Lumen) support which 11 didn't have.

Unreal Engine Updates

One last thing regarding this topic is the version of Unreal Engine 5 that the game is running on has been switched to a newer version which should give some extra performance overall (5.3 to 5.5).

We're aware that 5.6 exists and that it's performance is significantly improved but it has a few major issues that need to be fixed before we can even attempt to switch.

Overall Status

Overall though things are happening, and sure it's not happening at super speed like I (and many others) would like but things are happening nonetheless and that I would say is a good thing.

I have the goal of finishing the update this year but I'm unsure if that's actually achievable, regardless I'll still try.
I don't know about Galaxyi though lol

Anyway...

If you would like more in depth devlogs I've been posting monthly devlogs for over a year on my Patreon.

Shameless plug I know haha.
Any amount of money helps!

That should be all for now though, thanks for reading!
