Game development is under way!

NEW DEVLOG EACH FRIDAY!

Greetings,

for last few months, I’ve been working hard on Spread the Dead, my first unique blend of RTS and action platformer merged in one awesome game!

To sum up all features, the game is based around zombie units that player must use to complete a level. Each level consists of unique enemies, scenery and objective.

Since the first alpha build back in late 2014, I’ve changed and added lots of features and some of them are:

  • reworked HUD, freeing up rest of screen where all the action is going on. At beginning of each level, player must choose 5 different units (out of 15). This allows the player to create his own play-style

  • reworked lightning and particle system, allowing for pretty explosions and effects!

  • entirely ported to latest Game Maker: Studio version with ramped up performance and nearly non-existent loading times

  • QoL (quality of life) improvements, such as respawn system for player, detailed information for each zombie and upgrades as well as tips to quickly familiarize the player with the game

I would rather not go into details with upcoming features, but rather present them when they are implemented into the game and fully tested.

To sum this post up, here are some snapshots of the most recent zombie unit I finished:

An infected room from the second part of Cybel ! Are you up for some cleansing?

Today I tackled drawing different variations of facial expressions for one of the main characters in Eden. What do you think of it? :) Eden: https://gamejolt.com/games/Eden/592698

Made my first ever animation.

Out of boredom and curiosity, I coded Sailor Jupiter's Argentine Backbreaker.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
