Hello Sanctuary seekers!
Firstly, I’d like to say a huge thank you for following our game and for making suggestions in the comments.
It really spurs Joe and myself on to make After Sanctuary the best game we can.
So yeah. Thanks. :-D
Now down to business.
I wanted to post a quick update to let you know we are still working hard on the game and to give you a run down on the features we have integrated into the game so far.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was porting After Sanctuary from Unity 4.x to Unity 5.x.
Without getting too boring and technical, the API converter wasn’t kind to us and as a result I’ve spent a lot of time re writing stuff like our AI and the vehicle logic to get Unity 5 to play nicely with it.
This isn’t a bad thing on the whole. Sometimes reading through old code can make you want to cry.
Sometimes you can re write it a better way and improve on what you have. This is what I believe I have done.
The vehicles handle better than before, the AI of both the enemies and the NPC’s is better than before. They are cleverer, The NPC’s can go about their daily business without interaction from the player. They aren’t just static entities who stare blankly into space. They chat to one another.
Inside the Sanctuary, every person in there has a job. You’ll see the NPC’s going about their daily business and when it’s meal times, they will go to the food hall and eat. At night time, they will go to sleep.
As well as doing their own thing, all of our NPC’s are fully voice acted.
We are using place holder audio files at the moment but we are going to be seeking out real voice actors very soon.
Can I just casually mention that all our speaking NPC’s are lip synced too?
That’s right.
Fully lip synced.
Anyways, here is a list of things we are certain will make it into the demo. 75% of them are already integrated….
9km x 9km main map (81km2) with plenty of indoor areas to explore.
At least one driveable vehicle
Fully voice acted lip synced NPC’s you can interact with.
Multiplayer mode with several game types such as death match, team death match and a surprise mode we really don’t want to reveal just yet.)
Quests and missions to complete for NPC’s.
It’s up to you how and when you complete these missions.
Karma system. Will you be good or evil? NPC’s change there opinion of you depending on your actions in the game. Some NPCs won’t speak to you if they don’t approve of your actions. Others may become hostile towards you.
Lots and lots and lots and lots of guns and melee weapons
The beginning of the story line of the full game will also feature and will unfold as the player completes quests which are attached to the main story.
There will also be a lot of side quests you can complete and also at least one mini game to find on our huge map.
Maybe one of the NPCs will tell you how to find it?
That’s all for now Sanctuary seekers so stay safe until next time.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I’ll be back in a couple of days with some screen shots of how After Sanctuary is looking now.
