Introduction
Welcome to the first devlog for our upcoming project Stitched Together! In this devlog we’ll be sharing all of our current updates on development, game design, and programming process. Not only are two people working on the development side, but we have many talented voice actors and composers to help the game feel more alive.
Thank you for all the support so far of what we’ve shown of the game. As first-time game creators, we’re encouraged by the likes, comments, and overall response to the game.
We’d also like to thank Gamejolt for the opportunity to not only become verified creators for the platform but also for giving us more motivation to work on this project as well as future games.
What’s done so far?
Environment Design
First up, a closer look at some of the rooms that we’ve shown so far in recent updates.
We’ll start with a nice and fun arcade area. More of an “arcade corner” since the game takes place at a small town side diner/entertainment establishment.
We really wanted to make this place feel like a small-time business, so putting a smaller arcade play area to sit and play while you wait for a show feels just right in its intended purpose.
Next up is our designated birthday area, aka “Party Hall”.
This area connects the main dining room to the prize room. Animatronics are designed to stay near the party hall during a special birthday. Kids can sit and interact with their favorite friends without having to walk far for a refreshing and tasty Fizzy Faz drink.
Let’s not forget to include some different angles of the office you’ll be working at.
Connected to your office is a large hallway for performers to quickly move throughout the building without being seen. It’s connected directly to a door in the Prize Room, as well as a small storage backroom.
That’s all we have to show as far as the finished game environment. We’ll have much more to share as far as rooms once we think it’s polished and interesting enough. We’d like to say all of the game’s environment is about 85% completed with some minor tweaks needed to make each room unique.
Programming
Previously, we showed the player movements inside the office and the flashlight functionality. Behind the scenes, we have working cameras for the player to monitor certain spots in the game.
We’re still in the early phase of coding Bonnie’s AI on a basic level on how often the animatronic will move per in-game hour and his placement at the end of the night.
For night 1, one in-game hour is equivalent to a minute. We have coded the AI to do a 'movement opportunity check' every 4 seconds, it rolls an RNG whether the AI will move, stay or go back.
In the Console tab, we can see the AI name, AI level, and the randomly generated deciding number.
Number of points where the animatronic stops and movements are subjected to change depending on beta test results.
What can you expect?
Demo
We currently have plans for an eventual open beta test demo in the works. Although this might not be as soon as we want it, as it still requires extensive playtesting before we’ll give it to everyone else for feedback. The open demo will hopefully include a good insight into what to expect at the final release.
Gamejolt Stickers
Since we’re approved Gamejolt creators, we have plans for sticker packs relating to the game in the planning phase. We’ll share more about that once we have a concept to share.
Closing Remarks
Thank you to everyone so far for the support. If you are interested in this game, please follow to get updates about everything regarding Stitched Together. We’re so very grateful for the chance to work on a project with such a great fangame community!
