Heya everyone !
I just got featured on GameJolt, which imply that my download count increased like crazy over the past few days, but I wasn’t quite as ready as I thought to be, so here’s a quick post to share my thought on that :
- Bugs -
First of all, I received a lot of comments saying the game wasn’t working for them, and I’m quite sad about that, i thought the game was stable and ready for release, but I realize that maybe I should have labeled it “early access”
Now I’m working on a fix for some bugs that i understood, and on a log system for the bugs I don’t, so i will be able to have a more stable version in the future
-Server-
The player population is still too low for people to actually meet other people on my server, even with the GameJolt feature …
So i guess trying to do a small online game was a bit presumptuous …
Add to that the fact that most of the users are from the U.S, while my only server is currently located in West Europe, meaning a high latency for the few player that were able to actually play the game online.
-Availability-
And while all of this happened, i was temporarily unable to access resources to manage my server, or play with newer player while they are unable to find other opponent, which I’m pretty sad about :c
-In Conclusion-
I believe I can say, my first “official” game release as an indie developer was pretty bad : I wasn’t here when things started to get interesting, and was unable to ensure a good gaming experience to everyone.
It all around sadden me a bit and shows my lack of professionalism, at a point that I’m continuously thinking about stopping working on this project…
But for the few people that enjoyed the game, and the 17 persons following the game, I’ll do my best to keep it up !
Cheers !
