Heavenlock it's a recent project, but it is 2 years being developed. Canceled prototypes, remade ideas and several changes in the interface. This is how a 2 years project finally becomes released.
Try 1 - Where everything started*
*(content shown here was captured from old unreleased alpha projects and isn't part of final product)
The goal for the very first alpha game was creating a huge collection of arcade mini games and different modes. This first project was named "Pixel Treasure Collection".
The first version of brick breaker minigame was designed in a plain and not in 360 degrees:
Try 2 - Changes to shape and system to enjoy*
Then, unsatisfied with the first version I remade the main menu, transforming it to a small circle as a launcher that can be moved around the screen.
When you select a game, this old launcher executes another window of the selected game, closing this one:
The brand title design looked like this:
This version also contains the remade brick breaker game named "Breaker Ball 360" with 30 levels:
I made also the GameJolt site for this game, but it never was released. Now you can see it here by the first time!
Try 3 - Content evolution and no time for caution*
Possibilities weren't enough for me, so I've decided to create a bigger windowed launcher with multiple menus and features. Changing the title from "Pixel Treasure Collection" to just "Pixel Treasure". This version brings by first time the idea about a compatibility system named "Portal Code Engine" that allows players to unlock extra content in my other games. Also items to collect and adventure mode:
This project new version was enough good for me. Nice graphics and intuitive interface. But with a lot of things to work on. With the pass of months I've started to get tired and leave this project aside. Not cancelled, just stopped.
Final Try - the dream becomes truth with a new design look
At the beginning of this year I wanted to continue working on it, but the project itself looked a bit old to me. So I've decided to start it from scratch, reusing and adding new ideas, remaking the main launcher, adding optimizations at runtime and finally implementing compatibility with your GameJolt account.
A complete work process that changed the main name from "Pixel Treasure" to "Heavenlock" and graphics style from colorful arcade to ancient fantasy. The logo also changed from a coin to a gear with a shaped star hole:
Main menu was also fully remade. Now on a 700x700px square window. It keeps the top tabs from the previous prototype. Added data slots, secret content around, settings for each menu, GameJolt login feature, and more:
The minigame "Breaker Ball 360" graphics, physics and system were remade too. Now known as "Locked Core" with 100 playable levels:
This was a quick resume about what happened these two years. It was great and enjoyable, I've learned so many things and loved all the process. Time to see how it goes from now on!
Thank you for read and all the support ;)
