Game
A Shapian's Tale

Hello everyone!

I have recently taken a step back into game dev this past summer and I have decided to resurrect a old game from the early days of Game Maker and the YYG community (some of you might have been apart of); A Shapian's Tale.

It has been nearly a decade since the game was in its early demo stages, however that old project died awhile back and now I am bringing it back with some big changes:

1). It will be a single player/local co-op experience (1-4 players) with a semi-online features and

2). I am going to take it from the original 2D platformer style back then to a new 2.5D side-scroller (think Castle Crashers) style with some Paper Mario aesthetics.

Many of the original features and game design elements are returning, and the shape-centric nature of the game will be the center focus to the experience. From the flora and fauna to the landmarks and the culture built around them, puns will run amok and everything will have a whimsical circle, triangle, or square twist.

For now devlog will serve as a point of discussion, and hopefully a beacon for me to keep working on this old gem.

Current task: Advanced combat

I believe I have gotten the Axial Layer completed! On top of this the debug viewer has also been optimized visually to show more accurate info. Its so strange how different the underlying code is from the final render #gamedev #rpg #combat #sidecroller

Took a break from AST to work on a rougelike match 3 game, pet named "SwapQuest."

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
