Game
Mary's Arcade (Classic)

Hello! I apologize for not making a devlog in a long time. Don't worry, development is still going well. I'm just at a point in the game where I'm waiting for other people to finish things up for me, so I don't have much to show right now.

Since I'm all about transparency when it comes to PM's development, I'll go into detail over what's happened since I last posted.

I had a bit of an identity crisis with the game and spent two weeks trying out different things to 'fix' what I thought were huge problems.

Unfortunately everything that I added kept making the game more confusing to play.

During the two week period, I also went through the inevitable 'this isn't realistic enough' phase that every fan game developer goes through at some point - and then I remembered I'm making a game about walking pizza robots and that feeling quickly subsided.

I then spent a whole day just returning the game back to how it was before I started messing with it. And guess what - as soon as the game was back to it's original state I thought of something that fixed all of my concerns!

Now my only concern is what you guys will think of it when it's out.

Ok, so other than spending two weeks going in a huge circle, what else have I been doing?

Well, I've been working on the first level a lot. I'm trying to minimize the amount of time spent just waiting for things to happen, while also not making the game too difficult. I'm also trying to avoid just telling the player exactly what to press.

That covers it for now. Feel free to yell at me if I don't post a devlog for two weeks again.

It just keeps getting better and better.

First stable version of new multi pass shader ported. Paired it with a lower resolution and era-appropriate aspect ratio for vibes. (and to make sure the shaders scale properly)

Also shows off some of the enhanced entry area.
