Perhaps doing some research and contacting them individually to remind them of the reasons they've chosen to work on this great game in the past and encourage them to contribute to it again because it would have a very big impact on our community might be a good idea?
Valve employees choose what to work on individually and it's up to them to recruit each other to team up on a task
Maybe if we give them a nudge they might be more open to proposing an effort/joining our one janitor and the potted plant
You know how when you're doing CPR you gotta point a finger at somebody and tell them in particular call 911 because otherwise no one will do it while expecting someone else to do it for them? Maybe instead of screaming into the void it might be worth trying the same approach here
I think the old employees who have already shown interest in this project in the past might be our best shot, so I want to try targeting them in convincing them that TF2 is a good time investment
