Hey everyone. Patch 2.3.5 is live now. Free vertical movement, toggle blood effects, bad luck protection and various bug fixes/changes. Full patch notes below.


Welcome to patch 2.3.5. This is a small update in addition to the last 2.3 update.

  • Free vertical movement

    Illagus is/was designed with "lane" based vertical movement in mind. However for many players this was confusing and some just didn't like it. Therefore I have decided to give you the option to change between the lane based movement and completely free movement with the press of the <TAB> key. Keep in mind that since the game isn't designed with free vertical movement in mind that it might be a bit weird at times. Also the free movement makes the game slightly more difficult since it is slower than the near instant vertical movement of the lane system, but since you can change between the two at any time, I hope it'll be to your liking.

  • Toggle Blood Effects

    Multiple players have requested for this option to be added to the game. I wanted to add it to the last release but couldn't get it done in time so here it is. Look for it in the options menu.

  • Bad luck protection

    I have also added some very minor bad luck protection to the game. If you have below a set number of artifacts after you beat level 25 or 50, you'll receive an additional artifact. This is to help some very unlucky players that might otherwise fall too far behind in power levels.

  • Bugfixes/Changes

    • Improved the cpu load for the particle systems

    • Increased the health on the shield goblins

    • Slightly reduced the archer's light attack speed

    • Fixed a bug where progress through the caves would sometimes be impossible

    • Fixed a bug with the lighting in the dark

    • Fixed a bug with depth sorting

    • Fixed a bug where portals could bug out in the caves

    • Fixed a bug where certain artifacts upgrade weren't applying as expected

Next up

Hey everyone. In the update tomorrow you might notice a couple of changes to the combat in illagus. Several changes have been made. An overal increase in attack speed, more reactive enemies, critical strikes and charge attacks. More info below.

Hey everyone. The video above showcases 2 of the main features for the coming illagus update: updated caves and large rooms. Caves will be entirely optional content. Explore underground areas, both large and small with new enemies, traps, bosses and more.

Only ~24 hours to go. The demo will also receive an update with the new changes, however a large part of the new content will not be reachable due to the demo level limit of 20 (was previously 15).

Hey everyone. The small patch will be released tomorrow. In the short video above you can see the changes that have been made to the vertical movement. With the press of a button you can instantly change between the lane based movement and free movement.

I just want to say thank you. Hundreds of people have now played illagus, way more than I ever expected. I have already started working on the next update, which should bring some very exiting things to the game and I can't wait for everyone to play it.

In the coming update you will be able to unlock multiple playable characters. Also new are the quest fairies that will reward you (for your next run only) if you complete their assignment.
