@griffpatch on Scratch recently launched a subscription service (dubbed "Griffpatch Academy"), and is actively trying to convince children to pay $17 a month for Scratch tutorials. This is genuinely fucked up.
Griffpatch Academy used to be a free service-- I personally remember trying to sign up for it when it first launched. However, sometime in between the launch and now, he has quietly changed it to cost over $200 a year to receive these tutorials. I'm not really in a place to say whether this is a good deal or not-- I can't and won't sign up for Griffpatch Academy to find out. However, this is certainly predative marketing, and towards children no less. Furthermore, this is absolutely against Community Guidelines (this website is advertised through his Youtube account, which is linked on his Scratch Account), however Scratch Team has yet to take any sort of action against it.
Scratch Team, Griffpatch, do better.
