DISCLAIMER: After reading this, do NOT harass anyone mentioned in this post. I don't tolerate harassment in the slightest. This post is only meant to express my frustration about a recent convo.

So I'm a fan of Undertale and a fan of new ideas. I came across a fangame idea I liked a few years ago. Titled, "Undertale Last Breath 'Canonified'". After being invested, the creator and I exchanged follows.

I now know why he wanted a "canonified" version of ULB.

I checked up on his posts recently, and he expressed his casual hatred for Undertale Yellow. I'm one to sing its praises but also think it is imperfect.

Now, UTY hate? Not a big deal. Not everyone has to like the same thing, and I respect that. But the REASON for his hatred was because it "focused on OCs rather than actual Undertale characters", "had fanon concepts", had a fanbase that "thought that UTY was canon", and overall, was not a "worthy prequel".

Let me make something very, very clear to you, DaFeelings.

1. How is focusing on NEW characters and NEW experiences, etc. a BAD thing!? Originality is key to a good story. It doesn't matter if it's canon, it's something different than the same "Sans and Papyrus" schtick we've seen thousands of times in UT fancontent

2. It uses fanon concepts. SO WHAT!? That's what fan content is! Headcanons and new ideas (even if it's fanon) are what make it fanmade, and not piracy!

3. NO ONE THINKS UTY IS CANON! And even if SOME do, that doesn't give you the right to generalize fans. That's like me saying, "Oh everyone thinks Gaster is the father of Sans and Papyrus they're so stupid haha". It's not fair, and it's certainly NOT kind to anyone who has that headcanon.

4. It's a fangame, not an official prequel. Toby Fox made it VERY clear, EVEN IF HE DEFENDED AND OUTRIGHT PARTICIPATED IN SOME FANCONTENT, that NONE of it is canon. He made it clear that the only things that are canon to Undertale are the game, the newsletters, and the alarm clock dialogue. So even if UTY is not "worthy", IT WASN'T EVER GOING TO BE OFFICIAL. EVER.

Not to mention, after I made the argument that headcanons aren't a bad thing, he called me "overprotective". This is bold of him, considering they worry about the tiniest of details not being "canon" to the original work something is based on.

And then, when he decided to make his take on UTY? He did what he did in the link I put at the top of this post. He made it so "canon" that he completely denied anything new or original.

What part about a human unrelated to Frisk and from like 5 years ago being named "RISK" is well-written or original!?
