It originally began development as a sequel to the ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog titled Sonic the Hedgehog: Westside Island, released in 2009. The ROM hack itself has been restarted numerous times in development (and was even been put on hiatus for many years), but has recently undergone enough development that I think a version can be released to the public. However, this may be the first and only official release of Sonic 2: Return to Westside Island, as I no longer have any desire or interest in working on it.
