One game I haven't talked about much, but was a huge influence on Crystal Story's gameplay, was Terranigma! If you've ever played Illusion of Gaia, then this will feel like a spiritual successor in some ways. The only way to play it now IIRC is emulation.
Lucky Tower Ultimate is a chaotic, comedy roguelite. Escape from an incredibly dangerous, randomly generated tower in a slapstick adventure that looks like a cartoon and feels like a joke. Slashy slashy!Â
