Species Name: Lytrae [same for both single & plural]

Characteristics:

Physical:

• triangular head

• dull colored skin [not restricted to gray shades]

• 5 - 7 ft [152 - 213 cm]

• cat-like eyes

Non-physical:

• Mysterious aura

• Blank expressions

• Doesn’t understand human desires/norms [even if explained thoroughly] 

Habitat: Lytrae prefer to live in forests, unbothered by humanity.

Lifespan: 900-1000 years average, longest known is 1400 yrs

Lore: Lytrae came to Earth from an unknown planet around 10,000 years ago. They mostly did not interact with humans, instead moving to the vast forests of Europe and North America. The few that chose to partake with humans were often killed, and show up in Eastern European folklore as evil spirits who lurk in forests [yes, the lore did last that long lmao].

However, in the 1600s Lytrae were officially documented by English scribes, and people began to view them as rare prizes to be claimed. Some Lytrae were captured and sold off to zoos or private collections, but others became citizens, peacefully living their own lives in human towns. And of course, some returned to their beloved forests, living life as they always had.

Their population diminished significantly over the next 200 years, causing the remaining Lytrae to move back to the forests, fading into obscurity as society progressed onwards.

Today, only about 1,500 Lytrae remain, and only in large, untouched forests such as national parks. They live in small groups of around 6-8 members, which are often families.
