I hope to retain the style of an old-school 2D Mario game, but more as a homage to the older games, and less as a direct sequel to a Mario game. I hope none of this comes as a shock to anyone, and I hope nobody is upset by this (Final Post)

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
