I just wrote a hypothetical Undertale 2

(Possible spoilers for Undertale ahead)

Undertale 2: Buried Mysteries (Version 1.2)

1 year after Undertale (pacifist route) Frisk, (who has a funny plastic hard hat) Toriel, Undyne, Alphys and Sans are hired to go back to the underground to solve some mysteries.

The gameplay is the same except for 2 changes: the battle box instead of being a square is now a ring looping around the enemy(s) and you can get TP just like in Deltarune you can get by nearly dodging attacks and defending to do special attacks related to the characters you're currently traveling with.

The location of the game is reverse from Undertale because you the gang enters through the barrier, making you end in the ruins, and the Underground itself is more natural and abandoned with clones of Flowey with cartoony proportions, corrupted and melting copies of old enemies created by Gaster, and dummies/ghosts that didn't make it out.

Gameplay in the overworld is similar the Legends Arceus, where you have to solve a couple mysteries in 1 open world location before fighting a boss and going to the next area. Mysteries could range from using a TP attack on a certain enemy to finding multiple hidden items in the overworld. There would also be hidden rooms with lore hidden within, for example in the Hotlands you can find Mettaton's old dressing room revealing more of his history. The bosses are the six human souls projecting their respective human with unknown intent. Depending on how you view it, this could or could not be one of the mysteries.

The gang eventually finds the location of Gaster (who's actually not the mystery man sprite, instead a new character with similarities to Gaster follower 2's "piece of him") and save a very small fraction of him from disappearing and stop Flowey's plan to go to the surface, take over the entirety of Earth, and make a deal with Chara to reset the world with only them (Flowey and Chara) by either burning him to a crisp in Genocide or sacrificing your soul to make him feel passion in Pacifist.

During genocide, the gang (mainly Sans and Toriel) notice your violence and try to calm you down while in pacifist the gang (mainly Undyne and Alphys) call out how you haven't changed a bit and that you're sparing demonic creatures.

Halfway through the game, Muffet joins the team after trying to catch up to the gang for a while. Muffet was also hired but didn't join the gang in time, so she had to catch up. This makes her a permanent member. (Except for some events I'm about to mention.)

In some parts of the game, you'd have to split up with the rest of the team for a bit, making you have to choose what special attacks you would want to have for the next chunk of the game.

I'd imagine there would be a running gag where in dire situations the annoying dog would appear out of nowhere and make everything awkward.

Here's a list of TP attacks:

  • Toriel's Motherly Protection: Reduces amount of projectiles

  • Undyne's NYAAAHHHHHH!: Does a little damage each turn

  • Alphys' Analysis: A more detailed check with Alphys' notes

  • Sans' san-sational skill.: Slows down enemy attacks

  • Muffet's Bake Sale: Gives you either a spider donut of spider cider

  • Flowey's Flowey Time: Either straight up damages you or drains your TP, only useable in Flowey fight

And here are the types of SOULs:

  • Red: The normal SOUL, you can go in any direction

  • Blue: You can jump and go left or right

  • Green: You stand still and use a shield instead

  • Purple: You can move from line to line and go left and right

  • Yellow: Just like the red soul, you can move freely and shoot

  • Orange: You can move on the edges of the battle box and dash quickly to the other side, damaging what you hit

  • Pink: You can jump and attack, and you use these actions to either deflect or dodge attacks

  • Corrupted: A special kind of SOUL that takes damages constantly, requiring you to touch healing attacks

Also there's Starwalker

If you like this, I'd be happy to make more of these hypothetical fangames

If you have ideas for this or other game concepts, please let me know

Ok goodbye for now
