I want to build a wysiwyg chart editor for my rhythm game

but i'm having trouble trying to calculate distance to time

read article because character limit my ass


basically

I want the player to place a note free form on the chart

and have the distance colorate to that time in the song, since the song data keeps track on when the note spawns

does anybody on this god forsaken platform know what i'm talking about and know how I could go about implementing that
