Personal message from myself to you guys. I checked up on the Dreemurr-Reborn blog after a friend pointed me towards it today, where I realized that the blog owner has been getting hate/threats claiming that he ripped off Overtale.

There are some things all of us on the team need everyone to understand.

1.) Overtale was inspired by Dreemurr-Reborn, not the other way around. Dreemurr-Reborn came first. An example of this in action is Asriel’s summer outfit design, which was based upon the the outfit worn by Asriel in Dreemurr-Reborn.

2.) Overtale was only INSPIRED by Dreemurr-Reborn and IS NOT directly based off it or follows its plotline. It is not “the Dreemurr-Reborn game”. It is an entirely original game that borrows only one specific plot point from the Dreemurr-Reborn story, that being Frisk’s sacrifice. Everything beyond that is new and unrelated to the blog. The two entities are very much separate and should not be mentioned interchangeably.

Thanks for listening, everyone. It’s high time this got said. Please don’t send hate to anyone, not just the Dreemurr-Reborn artist. Just be a nice person in general and the world will be much happier for it.
