Gosh, it really has been nearly a year since the last update... That's a whole lot of time, jeez.
During this time... nothing really happened. Okay, that's kind of a lie. I suddenly gained a hyperfocus for a second project (Team MANTLE's Dragon Blazers). But outside of the story no progress was made on this game. This is partially due to Dragon Blazers, but another reason is because I recently started going to university! I quickly learned that you either have a lot of free time in your hands or no time at all...
Now, despite there being virtually no progress at all, I am excited to share that I will be resuming to create more sprites. After all, this journey has led me to improve my spritework a lot. Here are the updates:
Carol Holiday, mayor of New Home!
The 'mayor of New Home' was planned to make a major appearance in the story. However, I struggled a lot to come up with a design for them. Fortunately, a certain deer made an appearance during Deltarune chapter 4, and I knew she was meant to be New Home's one and only mayor. The reason she wears a kimono is a bit of a funny one to me: In Deltarune, if you count the number of katana's she has, you come to a total of three (two in her house and one in her office). You know which green-haired bounty hunter fights with three swords? Yup, that's right, Carol Holiday wears a kimono and fights with three swords because she is a Zoro fan. I'm not joking. This is the in-universe reason.
Gaster's sprite update (again)
Thought the old sprite was a bit too large and I thought the face was weirdly shaped. So I changed it! Fun fact: He is now the exact same length as Mysteryman!
Now, these two have a very interesting relation with each other... No spoilers though!
What's next?
Gerson Boom's sprite will be changed to the Deltarune one, with maybe a few minor changes being made.
Lola will get a completely new sprite. It will NOT resemble her old sprite at all. It will be a very complicated sprite but I am really excited to sprite her! A critique I once saw about 99% of UT-yellow's major characters being anthromorphic inspired me to go in a completely different direction for this design
Either spriting a new character or making more sprites for already existing characters (different positions instead of the front sprites, talksprites etc.)
