99% of fangames never get off the ground because after you start you seen realise just how daunting the task of making a game from scratch actually is. There are engines like unity, godot and gamemaker for this, but for the young teens that make up most of this community there is still a mountain to climb. I first started using unity 5 years ago, and only now am I able to actually get anywhere with an ambitious project like Undersmash.
A a drag-and-drop Undertale battle maker similar to Mario Maker would be fantastic. Something that is more specific so nobody needs to worry about creating battle systems, movement mechanics, and generic code that everybody could be using.
When I've released the first Undersmash build I might make a mini prototype for something like this; I feel like it's something I could pull of with the knowledge I have, and an engine like that could really help alot of people get into game dev. I'm not gonna commit to anything right now though because I need to focus on my game, but I like to think about these things.
