The 7DFPS 2014 is a week long game jam where game developers make a first person shooter type game. I was able to play and record all of the games entered into the jam this year (around 145 or so) in a video compilation series! Below are a few of my games, in no particular order.

S for Surfing is a colorful surfing game where the player is able to control water to propel theirselves into the air! This game allows the player to control a surfboard as well as the water around it. With this magic ability, the player can make bigger waves, or move objects closer to the player so they can bounce off of the objects. The higher the player goes, the easier it is for the player to do tricks up in the air and earn more points. The graphics to this game are really colorful and well made. The music also matches with a fun feel to the game. Very nicely done for a surfing game!

Artpartment is a game where the player is able to shoot abstract colorful enemies in a building full of floors of these enemies. The player starts off in a room, with a strange, abstract enemy in it. After shooting that enemy, the player can move on into an elevator with tons of colored buttons. Each button leads to another floor, showing off another abstract enemy. Personally, I loved this game because of the weird yet awesome abstract enemies that were placed in ever changing rainbow rooms.

RADE: The RADICALLY Authentic Dogfighting Experience is a game where the player flys around, while there are boats, planes, and other flying objects attempting to shoot you down. The game itself is pretty chaotic, but the graphics are amazing and shooting the other ships becomes oddly enjoyable. All of the things that fly leave trails in the sky, as do bullets. The screen is soon full of things, but the movement of the players plane is very smooth and the game itself is pretty dang fun.

Mosh Pit is a pretty amazing game where the player is faced with waves of enemies that they must kill. This game has several different types of guns and enemies. Some monsters prefer to attack the player straight out, whereas others use ranged attacks to get to the player. This game is very well done and very fun to play, if you like facing wave after wave of monsters!

BLADBLAZERS is a funny game where the player controls a leaf blower. With this leaf blower the player is to clear off leaves from their yard. This seems like a pretty easy task, expect, punk kids from the neighborhood have decided to dump trash bins of leaves onto your lawn. This means war! Now the player must suck up leaves so that they can blow leave-balls at these punk-kids to stop them from throwing leaves at them! After all the leaves are gone, they player progresses to more levels of intense leaf blowing!

Frail Shells is a game where the player plays as someone who is going in on a recue mission to save another solder. The player must shoot at the enemies along the way to the person that needs rescuing. Once the player manages to finish that mission, they are sent home. Once home, it is hard to cope with the war. At first, days seem to be good. Your loving wife is making you breakfast and lunch, your job is boring but easy, giving you some spending cash… but as time goes on, things start to take a turn for the worst…

SHIFT is a cute choatic shooter where the player is put into an area like building where they face level after level of monsters who are shooting at them. The first few levels, complete with writing to direct the player as well as toy with them, introduces the player to some awesome abilities like “shifting” to dodge missiles or to get past laser walls. This game is pretty difficult as well as hectic, but very fun. My favorite feature of this game is the amazing colors. Whenever the player gets hit, their surroundings turn a beautiful rainbow.

War of Toys sounds exactly like the type of game that it is. The player plays as a toy army man in the middle of an all-toy battle! The player can run around this living room, climbing up furniture, and trying to destroy the bases of the red army men! Bases consist of big boxes that the red army men come in. There are also different guns, plastic pizzas, and medical kits that can be found and used. Overall, the game has a really nice childhood feel with some very refreshing violence. The coolest thing is the way the red soldiers die, they pop apart into many plastic pieces!

ESC Ape is an old school styled first person shooter with quite the colorful look to it. With just a gun and a knife, the player can take on snake guards and turrets in three different levels to help the Apes Escape their confinement. This game has hidden rooms as well as hidden bananas that can be discovered. The game is very well done with awesome 3D pixel graphics, as well as some pretty nice music. This game is pretty awesome looking and is really fun to play.

GasoSta combines redicious physics as well as a boring job to give you a funny, fun to play game. This game may seem silly at first, but honestly, its weirdly addicting. The player plays as someone who’s job it is to pump gas into other peoples cars. Each of these cars will only wait so long to get a tank full of gas. If the player gives the car gas, they get money. However, if the time runs out, these cars sort of crash into each other and almost fly away. The player also can find it is hard to pick up the pump and get it into the car to get gas into the car. This game is pretty funny!

SUPER GUN PARTY is a really fun multiplayer game where each player is at a carnival booth, ready to play a game where they shoot bottles or little cut-outs behind seanory. So far, there are only three carnival games to play, another may be added later, but it is still lots of fun. Up to four players on one keyboard can take on this challenge, for far less than it would cost at your local fair. The graphics to this game are also very colorful and well done.
