2004: Before the 2004-05 Fiesta Bowl, legendary head coach Urban Meyer announced his departure from Utah to Florida. Kyle Whittingham was named head coach before the game. Meyer and Whittingham acted as co-head coaches for the game, and both are credited for the Utes’ 35-7 win over Pittsburgh. Utah finished with a 12-0 record and a #4 ranking to finish the season.
2005: Whittingham’s first full year as head coach. He led Utah to a 7-5 record. Won the Emerald Bowl 38-10 vs Georgia Tech.
2006: Led Utah to an 8-5 record. Won the Armed Forces Bowl 25-13 vs Tulsa.
2007: Led Utah to a 9-4 record. Won the Poinsettia Bowl 35-32 vs Navy.
2008: Led Utah to a 13-0 record and a #2 ranking to finish the season. Won the Mountain West Championship based off of conference record. Won the Sugar Bowl 31-17 vs Alabama. Named National Champions by Anderson & Hester Poll, but it’s unclaimed.
2009: Led Utah to a 10-3 record and a #18 ranking to finish the season. Won the Poinsettia Bowl 37-27 vs California.
2010: Led Utah to a 10-3 record. Lost the Las Vegas Bowl 26-3 vs Boise State.
2011: Utah moved from the Mountain West Conference to the PAC-12 Conference. Led Utah to an 8-5 record. Won the Sun Bowl 30-27 in overtime vs Georgia Tech.
2012: Led Utah to a 5-7 record.
2013: Led Utah to a 5-7 record.
2014: Led Utah to a 9-4 record and a #21 ranking to finish the season. Won the Las Vegas Bowl 45-10 vs Colorado State.
2015: Led Utah to a 10-3 record and a #17 ranking to finish the season. Named PAC-12 South Division co-champion with USC, but lost tiebreaker to USC due to Utah losing to them during the season. Won the Las Vegas Bowl 35-28 vs Brigham Young.
2016: Led Utah to a 9-4 record. Won the Foster Farms Bowl 26-24 vs Indiana.
2017: Led Utah to a 7-6 record. Won the Heart of Dallas Bowl 30-14 vs West Virginia.
2018: Led Utah to a 9-5 record. Won the PAC-12 South Division. Lost the PAC-12 Championship 10-3 vs Washington. Lost the Holiday Bowl 31-20 vs Northwestern.
2019: Led Utah to an 11-3 record and a #16 ranking to finish the season. Won the PAC-12 South Division. Lost the PAC-12 Championship 37-15 vs Oregon. Lost the Alamo Bowl 38-10 vs Texas.
2020: Led Utah to a 3-2 record.
2021: Led Utah to a 10-4 record and a #12 ranking to finish the season. Won the PAC-12 South Division. Won the PAC-12 Championship 38-10 vs Oregon. Lost the Rose Bowl 48-45 vs Ohio State.
2022: Led Utah to a 10-4 record and a #10 ranking to finish the season. Won the PAC-12 Championship 47-24 vs Southern California. Lost the Rose Bowl 35-21 vs Penn State.
2023: Led Utah to an 8-5 record. Lost the Las Vegas Bowl 14-7 vs Northwestern.
2024: Utah moved to the Big 12 Conference after the PAC-12 dissolved to only two teams. Led Utah to a 5-7 record.
2025: Led Utah to a 10-2 record and a #15 ranking in the CFP Poll as of right now. Will be playing Nebraska in the Las Vegas Bowl. Kyle Whittingham will be coaching his final game for the Utes in the bowl game. He had an overall record of 177-88 (final bowl game pending), with 18 bowl game appearances, 11 bowl game wins (final bowl game pending), 4 PAC-12 South Division Championships, 2 PAC-12 Championships, a Mountain West Championship, and an unclaimed National Championship.
