Hi there!
So, I didn't think I'd be writing a new devlog any time soon, but I figure I'd give a quick update due to- okay let's address the elephant
So! You might be wondering what's going on here.
Is this a real leak?
Well, kind of. I wouldn't really call this a "leak", but this is a real (very unfinished) build of the game.
Funny story, when we initially released the game back around 7 months ago (jesus, that long already?), I made the Github repo public since I thought it'd be cool for people to be able to mess with the source code if they want to.
A friend of mine @blazingPhantasm
randomly decided to check out the source code a few days ago, only to realize that there's a whole bunch of extra content in the repo compared to the latest release of the game (v. 1.1).
This is basically because I completely forgot that the repo was public, so me and @Zyiah
were accidentally posting all of our development progress to the public. Lol??

Since this is now out in the open, I'll quickly run through the credits for this build of the game!
I saw a few people curious about the music used for example, so find your favorite tracks in the list below:

A statement on Youtuber cameos
Some of you might have noticed an unfortunate cameo in this build of the game. I want to make it clear that this is a very old build of the game and was obviously created before certain news came to light.
Luckily since the character is generic enough (Froggit) I don't believe this is too much of an issue, but I want to make it clear that the full game won't feature any Youtuber personas as playable characters, partly so content creators don't feel left out and partly to avoid potential headaches. At best some of them will get trinkets like bobbleheads or air fresheners (because having a Vargfren on the dashboard is kind of hilarious)
PS: kind of unrelated, but Zyiah didn't know that Vinesauce Joel and Vinny are different people, lmao
Some history
Well, I think I've been beating around the bush a bit, but I'll go ahead and talk about the development history up until now to give context for this build:
A few months ago, @tizielechicero2
and I started work on a "full game" of BERGENTRUCK 201X, retroactively making the current version a demo.
Along the way we also picked up @Zyiah
to help with coding! They were working on the Spamton level initially as a mod, but I liked it so much I asked for them to join the team. They then basically single-handedly made the customization options you can see in the game, as well as the challenge modes!
Anyways, we ended up planning out 10 levels of content (including the 3 levels in the original game). I focused on the Queen fight level for a while, and when that was at a level I was happy with, I started drafting out some basic ideas for the other levels.
Unfortunately, I realized quickly that my short-sighted 1 week game jam code made the project extremely limiting. A lot of the ideas I had for the more original levels I would either have to compromise on massively, or make in an extremely sketchy way that would break easily (which I already struggled with a bit for the Queen level).
Eventually I decided to bite the bullet and started planning to remake the entire game.
What happened next? Well...
Introducing: BERGENTRUCK 202X

Very original name, I know.
This is essentially going to be the "full game" we were talking about before.
Building what's basically an entirely new framework for the game was a long, grueling task. It took a long time for us to get out of a darkest pit of development hell, but after a lot of work (and many, many headaches) I think the project is at a point where we can finally start working on actual game content again. Hooray!

I figure this is the best time of any to announce that we've significantly expanded the team, PLEASE WELCOME:
Seirra - Character artist (driver skins)
Weny Hart - Character artist
@YaBoiNando
- Concept art (characters & UI)@EmeraldExpress
- Programmingcassyi_ - Programming / Testing
Slim Grimerz - Music
Finally, I want to clarify that I allowed Blaze to post the video since almost everything from the old build will be improved, changed or expanded on in 202X. Take a look at some of our concept art!

Unfortunately I can't really give an estimate for when 202X will release.
I'd like to say "before Deltarune chapter 5" but no promises!
Thank you all for sticking around and showing your interest in this silly little fan-project, I hope you stick around long enough to see what we've been cooking up for you.
I promise it's going to be great <3
