Hey everyone (those that are left that is) I'm back (kinda) for a long overdue devlog. Been almost a whole year without a word from the game, so allow me to explain what's been going on and about the future of Dayshift Simulator.
What have I been up to?
Well to be honest I've mostly been active on my Youtube channel lately, posting videos almost daily. Most of which was made possible with a great laptop I managed to get my hands on. This new laptop which I like to call the Chadtop can run faster, process better, and overall is pretty damn good. A huge step up from my Craptop.
Best part is it'll make game development a whole lot smoother, once I buy it that is. Currently I'm just borrowing it from my professor for video class, but with the semester over he offered to let me buy it from him. Although because of the corona virus I can't buy it from him yet, so we are still deciding on a good time. For now I'm limited to what's on the laptop, meaning I can't use RPG Maker. Hence the reason why there was no progress on the game and my focus shifting to Youtube.
What's gonna happen to Dayshift Simulator?
I still intend to finish the game, but as I said before since the beginning it's just a hobby so I'm not in such a big rush to finish it. Although during my absence I have realized a lot of issues with how I work on the game. So I plan to remedy it with some future plans.
Future plans?
I started headstrong developing the game without planning it properly, aside from the story. So before I go making promises or jumping straight into RPG Maker, I'm planning to make a checklist of what I should be doing. That way it'll be more efficient, and I can basically show you guys how far the game has to go.
Problems & Solutions
First issue was my planning, it was half done. Once I get back I will start to organize tasks by order of importance. Often times I would add something new just because I thought it was neat, but that would just add to the work load. Practicality first before novelty.
Next, I was hesitant on how the game would look, pixel or stock. Since it's just a small meme game I shouldn't be too ambitious with the looks. So I plan to balance pixel art and stock photos. I'm still going to try and use my own art style, so that while it may look like shite, at least I can say it's original.
Overall I'm planning to just keep the game simple, but if I can follow this correctly then the game will be done a lot faster, and with less problems than before. Combined with the Chadtop I could finish the demo before 2025. Probably. I have no idea on when I'll finish the game, and I don't want to say anything that I can't deliver.
Well then, now what?
Since I'm still waiting to buy the laptop, I can't really work on the game at the moment. So for now it's just more waiting. If you wish to stay and follow through I want to say, what the heck is wrong with you?
Just kidding, but no seriously I am really thankful if you do decide to stay and wait. I'm sorry that it's been almost 2 years now and I still got nothing to show for it. But do know that all the kind supportive comments I received in the past still motivate me and that I am still determined about finishing the game.
While I might not be active here for a while, you could go to my channel and check out my stuff. Who knows you might like it, and I'd really appreciate it if you do.
As for when I do come back, first thing I'm gonna do first is make some new cover art for the game. Anyway thank you for reading this far, until next time.
