🐞| MIRACULOUS: TALES OF LADYBUG & CAT NOIR SEASON 4 EPISODE 2: LIES - REVIEW |πŸ€₯

WARNING: I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but there is a chance there could still be spoilers so I recommend you watch the episode first! ⚠

DISCLAIMER: Remember this is all my opinion so I would appreciate that you respect it even if your opinion is totally different to mine, In fact if it is I would like to hear your opinion because I think that everyone should be able to let their voice be heard! πŸ’¬

So let us begin!

PART I: The Plot

This episode starts off similar to the last (and it actually some of the episode takes place during the time frame as Truth, but more on that later.)

This episode is more focused on Adrien (yay) and somewhat a parallel to Truth.

So we start with Marinette in her room with the kwamis, where she is trying to figure out the secrets of the Grimoire (the miraculous spell book) which because we hear on the news we can see that this happens during the day of Luka's akumatization.

Since Lies is a parallel to Truth there are similar occurrences such as Romantic scenes between Adrien and Kagami and like the episode prior to this one, they were interrupted constantly... Not only that, but we also got a very funny and lighthearted sequence where Cat Noir basically just being bored because of the lack of villains and time with Ladybug... Honestly though I found it hilarious, but I don't want to spoil it for you guys!

Eventually (after some more romantic interruption sequences) we get a character lore dump from Kagami that in my opinion was not necessary but I guess it's fine, basically Kagami enjoys drawing (pretty much like every other person in the show at this point XD) but her mother deems it an unfit skill for their highly respected family, so she draws in secret so she is not .... seen.... sketching.... (But her mother is blind???)

Anyway, after constant interruptions, we see a scene that takes place after a scene that occurred in Truth we see Kagami ask if Adrien actually loves him where he has the most uncalled for yet hilarious response I've ever heard, he then has to leave to help Ladybug fight Truth but unbeknownst to him earlier is dropped his Lucky charm Marinette gave him.

We skip to the part after Truth where Ladybug and Cat Noir are talking and Cat Noir is saying how happy he is with her, which I kind of find both nice and that it conveys a bad message to viewers, if you're dating someone you don't try to flirt with others okay????... So why he is still doing it I have no idea...

Anyway Adrien was scheduled to attend a party with Kagami and when he gets to the party he lies and says that he lost his charm and had to look for it but found it, but he was caught in his own lie because Kagami had the charm, Kagami then states that she lies to be with him but he lies because he doesn't want to be with her.. Which I kind of understand where she is coming from and really thought the writers performed this scene perfectly!

So then Kagami gets akumatized into Lies, who has the power to freeze all everyone who has lied if they're consumed by her large white orb that she can make bigger and bigger!

So we go to a sequence of fighting between where Cat Noir sacrifices himself (yet again) and a very unique lucky charm is used, while this akuma battle was short I didn't mind the main focus was not the fight in this episode which is fine to me!!!

After the fight there is a scene I adored where ladybug was visibly upset that Cat Noir sacrificed himself, then after that Adrien leaves and we see classic Adrien adoring Ladybug and saying how amazing she is...

After that we see a more tense breakup far more tense compared to Truth and we see Kagami said that she will be his friends when she is ready.

So we end the episode see Ladybug & Catnoir sitting on a rooftop just being friends and there the episode ended on a more happy note but at the same time it somewhat seemed to be a bit ominous at the same time!!

So that was the brief telling of the episode, Now time for my opinions.

PART II: Thoughts On The Plot

Things I Enjoyed:

  • I thought that this was a really cool episode seeing it was a parallel to Truth and we've never really seen anything like this before

  • I really liked that Adrigami the breakup and the revelations of all the Lies left their relationship really tense compared to Marinette and Luka's relationship.

  • I thought it was cool that both some scenes were taken between or during some scenes in Truth and that the akuma attack was shortly after the one in Truth.

  • I also loved the bits of humor in this episode

Things I Didn't Enjoy:

  • I didn't like the fact that the Adrien was barely committed to his relationship and still flirted with Ladybug, at least Marinette tried to be committed to her relationship.

  • I kind of wished that Lies's power was more unique in comparison Truth's.

Over all I really liked the plot of this episode..

PART III: Animation Quality

I found the animation quality similar to the quality in Truth, it looked nice but there were a few moments that the lighting felt a bit odd especially during the lies fight scene where the orb Lies was creating was shining on the characters, but other than that I found the animation quality pretty nice!

ANIMATION RATING: 7.5/10

PART IV: Verdict & Rating

I really enjoyed this episode and thought that it was a really good continuation/parallel to Truth! I really thought that this episode was a really interesting and both fun yet tense, which at the point of watching Lies I was starting to notice a theme of the season!

RATING: 9/10

PART V: Conclusion

When I finished watching Lies I knew that I wanted to stick around for the rest of the season to see what would happen and it was good decision because it only gets better the further the season progresses!

If you took your time to read through all this well, props to you and thanks you, I had to write this twice so it means a lot!

So what did you think of the episode? Was it Good, Bad? The Best Episode, The Worst?

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments below! πŸ’¬
