(Fair warning, this might be...a bit too long of a read.)
Starting with the special ones...
------------------------------------------------- In one word, who’s the most based member of the MM team?
Jen
- Am I allowed to leak the whole game????
Only if you complete my to do list I gave you with 325 items in it.
------------------------------------------------
Now onto the questions!
------------------------------------------------- What’s the game's current % completion?
I believe the game stands at a 60-65% finished state, I know this might sound way too far away, but once every asset needed is properly completed, the percentage shall go up much further (hopefully 'til completion!) within days/weeks.
- Game release data?
Being optimistic, I'm aiming for a release this year, although it all depends on how life treat us, the team, in the sense of how we'll be able to keep up a smooth and healthy development without completely disregarding our irl business & issues, we'll see!
- Mobile port?
I apologize mobile users, we do not plan on releasing mobile ports for Mountain Madness' initial release. However, after the game's release, if we are able to find someone trustable and dedicated to lend us a hand, we'll let you all know!
- Will Champ & Chump be present in the game?
They could potentially appear as easter eggs somewhere in the game! Regarding any major appearance, they unfortunately won't be pursuing the player, as Mountain Madness' story considers One Night at Flumpty's 3 as its canon predecessor, meaning One Week at Flumpty's is to be completely disgarded for any means of canocity within the game.
- Do you have any plans to integrate the Blind Monster concept from ONaF 1-2?
The Blind Monster's concept has been lingering on my mind for quite a bit now, and while the idea hasn't matured yet, this question sparkled me a few ideas that could possibly reference the Blind Monster in one of the game's nights. So I believe there's a good possibility we'll be giving the Blind Monster some justice, one way or the other.
- Will the game have dynamic ambience?
Absolutely! This is one of the key aspects of the Flumpty's games that always captivated me. We'll probably tweak some ambience tracks to give them a bit more variety, but in the current game build, you can certainly feel the ambience's vibe changing as the night progresses.
- Is a Custom Night present in the game?
Sure it is! The "compressed" Custom Night that Adam has already showed in the page a few posts ago is still up and running. It'll serve as the game's Hard Boiled Mode and gives you the chance to learn deeply each character in a lower difficulty if you wish to!
- Does Mountain Madness have a story? Does it have minigames?
It absolutely does have a story! I've just been put on the team at the start of this year, but I did the proper researching (minimal of the minimal details) of everything previously planned, and seems like the game takes a experimental route of inserting lore in the Flumpty universe, something that some people might be against it, and I can 100% understand why, but hey! The current story, to me, feels very wrapped up and easy to understand, and doesn't take an extreme large step to connect the dots. But who knows! You guys will be the ones to tell us.
And yes! Minigames are included. In fact you'll need to figure out how to access them in order to unfold the game's true ending!
- Is the current story the same as how it was originally presented/teased?
So, for people who have been following Mountain Madness ever since its beginning, there has been a story presented around that had its antagonist called "The Blob". Cutting it short, we have, well, not exactly "removed" him, but rather reworked his idea into something else. I've presented a story idea for Adam that involved pre-estabilished concepts in the Flumpty's universe and used them to make sense of the new story without (hopefully) stepping too far off the ONaF road, and he approved of it!
In short, Mountain Madness has a new story with a reworked antagonist, and with the pieces scattered around the game, with a bit of theorizing, one can properly wrap up the events that preceds & happens in the game.
- Are you trying to avoid using a specific color like how it has been done in the first two ONaF games?
Grah! I wish I had this idea earlier! But due to Adam's scarce time period and how a majority of the game's assets has been finished, we'll pretty much be free to use any color we wish to, much like ONaF 3 haha.
- Will Empty Bempty appear?
He always comes back.
- Will the game focus on horror?
The game will have ONaF 3's mix of cartoonistic nature alongside eerie-ish and off-putting atmosphere. Although Mountain Madness will probably incline more towards the latter due to the "story now exist" circumstances.
- Does the game contain completely unique gameplay mechanics that weren't inspired/seen in ONaF/FNaF games/fangames?
"Completely unique" is a harsh and somewhat unrealistic standard to live up to, much more now given the crushing amount of FNaF fangames out there, but I believe yeah to some extend! Even some mechanics that are obviously inspired by other games/brought back from previous ONaF installments are going to have some kind of "twist" to differentiate them, so never something so obvious might be what it seems.
Obviously, you won't be left in the dark trying to figure out a specific mechanic, as there will be hints either in form of UI texts or camera room decoration (similar to CAM 6 in ONaF 3's Main Night) to lend you a hand. But rest assured, Mountain Madness will do its best to bring you new ideas into table.
- Will the game have secrets?
Mostly in form of Easter Eggs & the previously mentioned minigames themselves! Perhaps we could scatter some more variants around...
- Will there be an archive menu of unused contents from Mountain Madness' whole development?
Absolutely!! While I was getting myself familiar with the game's dev history, I was extremely surprised to see how much has been planned and crafted behind the scenes, so once you unlock the Extras menu, a kind of an Scrapped/BTS menu will be there waiting for you!
- What's been your favorite part of working on the game so far?
Ahh that's a tricky one! Ever since I had the honor of partaking in Mountain Madness' development, it's been wild to be finally placing the game together after tons of years having its development being either halted or reset. Although I always had a preference for character AIs, so planning out their mechanics & getting them to work was probably my favorite of the bunch, as Mountain Madness is presented to have a similar ONaF 3 gameplay loop, so I had to figure out how to make it distinguishable and make it work as its own thing, and hopefully I managed to do so! You guys are to tell!
- How do you feel about MM inspiring a bunch of people to make their own ONaF/ONaF Inspired fangames?
As much as I'm not the game's creator, during my times researching and learning about the game's history, (I guess being an HSP gave the extra push haha) it filled my heart with joy seeing more people stepping up and crafting out fangames & inspired games. Just seeing how much creativity and passion can be put in a game inspired by another game with a comically large egg with cartoon facial expressions is, mindblowing to say the least, and frankly, if you have some story ideas for a Flumpty fangame/ inspired game, then heck, go for it! Do some testings, experiment, go crazy! Despite what some say about Flumpty's lore, the franchise do have some pre-estabilished concepts in its universe if one is to explore a little bit (Pake is to say), so if you get anything cool to create with them, do not hesitate!
I'm really glad to hear that Mountain Madness is one of the Flumpty fangames that fuels some parts the community to create their own thing, and I'd be really happy to see this fuel strengthening after the game's release, we'll see how things goes!!
- Are you happy with the current game progress?
Without a doubt! The game right now is muuuuuch more playable and polished than what it was in the past, having 3 playable nights out of the 5 and about a 80% playable minigame just shows how far the game has come, and I genuinely hope you all have a great time playing it once it releases!
------------------------------------------------
Aaaand I believe that wraps up for the QnA! Thank you all so much for who participated, it's been really fun answering each of them! Might do another one after the game is released, hopefully not too far away from now haha.
I like being transparent, so my apologies for the several weeks without teasers or announcements. If some of you has been keeping up with his channel, Adam's going through some rough moments in his life, meaning he cannot neither physically or mentally focus on the game until things has been properly solved, so we shall all show respect and give him a space to breathe.
On my end, I'm doing my best to progress on the game with placeholders, so as much as things feels stagnant, trust me, they aren't.
See you all next time!!
This place feels oddly familiar...eh, well.
