My honest FNAFb games review #2 – FNAFb2:FM (10 years later)

So, I've finished FNAFb 2 and I have things to say. Like A LOT of them. Sup, my fellow Fuckboys, it's an another review from the old bastard. If you missed my previous review, you can check it out here. Ok, here we go!

Gameplay

This might come as a shock to you, but the gameplay is the same. Yeah, insane, I know. Actually, I can say one major improvement right away: boosts prices, they're got halved. Huge W for boostaholic like me! Unlike FNAFb 1, you can't get OP weapon right from the start, but you can get something else OP and also Real Mic from Beta Streamers which is huge boost for early game.

Also main difference from the previous game, we have now 8 party members cap: 4 Toys and 4 Withereds. Withereds aren't important for the endgame, but the more, the merrier. This unlocks some great opportunities to grind tokens as well as beating the shit out of the enemies.

Skills

I wanna do the same thing with reviewing each skill like I did in the previous post, but tryna shorten it out a bit this time.

Toy Freddy:

Toy Freddy has a unique ability of upgrading skills upon certain amount of usage with max level of 3 which makes skills more powerful in exchange of higher MP cost. Like, MUCH higher cost. Can't say the same about effectiveness of these upgrades.

  • Tophat Slash: basically Tophat Toss of Toy Freddy. Hits 4 times instead of 2 and also get +1 per each level. It could've been sooo good, but 300 MP cost on max level is beyond dumb. Once you upgrade it to level 3 you're forced to spend lots of tokens for the MP boost, or you can just stick to 300 MP and use someone else to restore it for you every turn;

  • Tophat Dash, Tophat Crash, Tophat Smash: uh, um... they exist. You're probably never gonna use them unless you're on Critical mode or you're trying to kill Metal Streamer early on.

Toy Bonnie:

Gotta point it out right now, but Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica only has TP cost skills, they don't get MP per level, always staying at 1 MP.

  • Grab Bag: OH BOY, HOW LONG HAVE I SLEPT ON THIS ONE! THIS SHIT IS OP FOR EARLY GAME! Being able to grab any pizza or soda item, or cake, or present for just 5 TP? HELL YEAH! You just grind your items early, sell X-Larges for morbillions of tokens and git gud;

  • Status Bomb: great tool to poison or blind a cluster of enemies (and also get them high, but who gives a shit about high). 20 TP cost is pretty bearable;

  • Spread Bomb: good all-target damage skill I would've said if it has SOME damage. 1000 flat damage is laughable against literally any enemy beyond Gamma Streamers, not bragging bosses. And it costs 35 TP? Meh;

  • Timer Flip: used to be broken and didn't do shit. Now it does do shit. It resets Puppets timer. Would you ever use it? Eh, maybe once or twice when the fight got stalled way to much.

Toy Chica:

  • Healing Wing: resores 1k HP for 25 TP. Pretty self-explanatory;

  • Curing Wing: same shit but full HP for 50 TP;

  • Raising Wing: revive for 100 TP. NOT. WORTH;

  • Recovery Wing: party heal for 1k HP for 75 TP. Great thing considering 8 member party.

Mangle:

  • Electroshock: cheap goto multi-hit skill. Pretty much used 95% of time;

  • Paravolt: worse Plank Walk, but hits twise;

  • Somnojolt: better Toreador March. It could've been better if Mangle didn't hit first, but hit last, but... yeah;

  • Lightningbolt: worse Backup Bash and helluva expensive. I dunno, her skillset says that she wants to be hip with the kids.

I actually forgor to say something about combo skills in FNAFb 1 review, so here's short recap: 100 TP skill that lets you use your other skills up to 12 times. Has it changed in this game? Yes and no. No, because it works the same way (no shit, right?), but it's not the same skills that we had. Here we have a unique set of skills... that basically are all the same fucking skills, but under the different names. 1st and 3rd skills are all-target 50 MP skill with laughable 1000 flat damage. And the 2nd skill is... hold on tight, fasten your seatbelts and take a deep breath... all-target 150 MP skill with ANOTHER 1000 DAMAGE, but with the catch... it hits THREE TIMES! *xqc-clapping.gif* Do I need to say that you shouldn't even consider thinking of using this shit?

WIthereds has the same skillset as the OG squad, but without combo skill, meaning TP is useless on them.

Boss fights

Puppet and Second Puppet: same shit, different game. But this time we have the Second Puppet that is basically the same Puppet from FNAFb 1 while first Puppet is just weaker version of it. Second Puppet also has 1 minute less timer tho. It's not much of a problem since we have now working Timer Flip. Funny thing tho you can skip first Puppet by restarting timer 7 times.

Withereds: you have to fight them to recruit and they're quite strong ngl. Probably as strong as Toys in FNAFb 1. You don't have to fight them, but if you need an additional power members, then you go. Yeah, you also fight weaker version of Withered Foxy on your way to recruit Mangle.

Splash Woman: plastic doppelganger's ex-wife you have to fight to obtain Toy Chica. She feels way stronger than she used to be. Maybe they buffed her stats, I dunno.

Freddy Plush: extremely hard secret boss fight. Appears with 1/100 chance in Show Stage. It used to have higher chance so it felt more frustrating to encounter it pretty often, but now it changed to having trouble encountering it. The fight is completely unnecessary. You don't get any special drop for that, not even achievement. Feel free to not wasting time on it.

B.B. and Giygas B.B.: two final bosses, one enragement child. While Golden Freddy in previous game as final boss was kinda underwhelming, but alright for the first game, this time we have much proper final boss. Whole premise of this is basically Earthbound referense. Honestly, first B.B. fight is actual final boss, while second fight is an endurance test until Mangle can do her signature move. Nonetheless, whole final boss sequence is great and the ending is funny af.

The Refurbs: ah, yes, the infamous Refurbs. The unbeatable bosses with handcrafted AI. They actually used to be beatable back in the day, but with the latest updates they've been given status resists and chance based attacks always guaranteed making them practically impossible to beat. Even back then the best tactics to beat them was to set their HP at absolute lowest and kill all 4 in one turn. Now you rather run out of resources than kill at least one of them twice. But it's okay, they intended to be unbeatable, even the achievement says you have to survive at least 20 turns and once you lose you don't get gameover, but rather your survival results.

There's also 3 more boss fights, but I'll talk about them later.

Golden Freddy random encounter

One bonus thing from this game: random golden freddy encounter. He can appear on the map after entering it, lunge at you and wipe you out. Or he can randomly appear in the fight and either yiff you, your enemies, or both. He's such a silly troll. Fun, but pointless addition.

Afterstory

Great addition the new game was new act of the story that happen to be after the events of the main game. Now we're playing as ya boy Freddy himself.

The game suggests not to use save import feature, 'cause it's not supported anymore. Yeah, my ass. Default stats are so weak I've been strugglin' beating early fights.

Anyway, after the unfair fight with Golden Freddy from FNAFb 1, Freddy finds himself alone in Show Stage, but suddenly B.B. flashes by on his DeLorean. Freddy takes opportunity and jumps in forcing B.B. to time travel with him on board. This story has everything: time travel, awkward moments, Michael Jackson fight, 80's vaporwave aesthetics, Golden Freddy fight to git good, 4th wall brakes, Refurbs rematch as Refurbs themselves and, of course, grinding session. 80's and 90's animatronics unite to beat enragement child once again, but now in yet another famous jRPG reference: One winged enragement child. With the help of Golden Freddy and his yiffing abilities B.B. was defeated once again.

Whole afterstory is marvelous. Since it's more story centered, you don't get bored much from what's happening. And ofc it's worth beating up B.B. once again.

Proud and Critical mode

Second game also provides us with higher difficulties modes. Unlike FNAFb 1 these higher difficulties are much better executed and I can even say they're bearable to play. Also new modes has their own unique content.

Proud mode is basically hard mode: 50% XP rate, 50% less ATK and 25% more encounter rate. It's not that hard to play, just grind takes more time. But on this difficulty and on the next one we can get Lucky Soda and Double Pizza, which makes grind lot easier, but to get them you have to destroy 8 and 10 cameras respectively. Another addition to these difficulties is option to fight Tupac or Snoop Dogg (if you has exactly 420 tokens) to ascend and become rap god, gaining bonus stats for free.

Well, Critical mode on the other half... Ooooh, the misery~... We got no XP rate, -75% ATK rate and +50% encounter rate. Starting of with not being able to even damage Alpha Streamer because you have WHOOPING 7 ATK! You have to roam the map and get Tophat Dash. It's the only way to kill them early. Meaning, you have to spent most of your income on sodas. There's also a way to make your early game easier: find paper B.B. on the office and rob him off 500 tokens. No XP rates also means you get no levels and bonus stats and combine it with 75% decreased ATK you get generally weak characters. ATK boosts only gives you 1.25 ATK is laughable, but good thing that you get 15% more DEF in exchange. Such restrictions opens up a new way to play the game: go solo. Yeah, sounds horrible, I know, but hear me out. Getting at least 10 ATK boost will cost you 400 tokens. Grinding and spending such resources on more than 1 character is counter efficient. Ok, maybe get Toy Bonnie, because Grab Bag is that OP. I played alone, because I needed to defeat one last foe for the achievements...

Shadow FUCKING Bonnie. Remember I said that Refurbs are meant to be unbeatable? Well, THIS is actual unbeatable boss. You must not recruit anyone or else he dissapears. And that's the problem! He's as strong as Freddy Plush and Freddy Plush is THE STRONGEST ONE after Refurbs. He either instakill you, or stun and fuck you up, or just fuck you up in general BECAUSE you can't get X-Large pizzas without Toy Bonnie and using Large ones is not enough to outsustain Shadow Bonnies damage. WIth X-Larges it could've been somewhat beatable. With huge RNG, yes. But in this case, he's practically unbeatable. Feel free to use Debug room if you want achievement.

Q Scenario

Same thing. We play as B.B., but we can only recruit The Puppet. The Second Puppet to be exact. Quick note: you have to manually recruit Puppet, not fight it.

I actually found Q Scenario being harder because entire party has only 10% DEF stats and you has to beat cameras to get +10% DEF per camera and also get new skills. And it's quite hard to get these early cameras going. Surely it's not recommended to play this on any difficulty other than normal one.

Music and Graphics

Well. what can I say? New banger music, alright, What I'm Made Of is as iconic for Refurbs fight as it is for original Metal Overlord fight in Sonic Heroes. Didn't liked cameras fight music. Sorry, but Electric Eye is miles better.

With the graphics I've noticed that the devs started using more unique and handmade stuff, and also SFM renders with these goofy ahh old models.

TL;DR

The game does what sequel must do: more stuff. Almost everything from the first game is improved, we got more of an actual story, new "toys" to play with. It a great sequel, 'nuff said.

I keep up with tier list thing and put this game on S-tier. Much better experience than the first one.

I'm glad I'm finally done with the game. Playing Critical mode almost broke me, but I'm free.

Okay, onto yiffing with Springtrap. See you in... uh, like, 2 months or something.
