Ok, before I can say anything, I just have to give thanks and respect to Steel Wool for putting so much work and dedication in this game. It took tons of delays, and almost THREE YEARS, to make. You just can't NOT admire the things they've done. So thank you so much Steel Wool for making this.
Now, onto the actual review itself.
---------------------------------------------------------------
(I won't post spoilers about any story in the game since it came out yesterday and not a lot of people have seen the ending)
---------------------------------------------------------------
I personally really like the game. The idea of us exploring an ENORMOUS mall where you can play LITERAL MINIGAMES, explore WHEREVER you want, WHENEVER you want... How can you not like that idea? I love the designs for all the attractions (my favorite is either Monty's Golf or Roxy Raceway) and pretty much the entire mall. The character models are cool, and I love the idea of them all having their own personalities. The fact that you can see them in their own personal rooms is such a cool idea.
The gameplay is pretty cool too, the hiding mechanic is a nice idea. Having to avoid the Security Bots to add an extra level of suspense is a nice touch. The third office section's mechanic is really unique and fun, I enjoyed that.
I also like the game's story (But I'm not gonna say anymore, you gotta find out about that for yourself >:) )
The game takes a huge leap of faith in terms of expanding the franchise, and overall, it does a lot of things right.
However, it does have problems. LOTS. OF. PROBLEMS.
I have a Nvidia 3070, and an Intel I9, and even on the LOWEST POSSIBLE SETTINGS, the game STILL had FPS problems. I feel like the game really needs a Performance Mode.
Another problem I had is that the game is so big, and takes up so much CPU and GPU that my PC would overheat, and the game would rapidly drop in FPS rate (I have a very good cooling system, my PC rarely ever overheats)
When you're in the Atrium, the room is just so big and open, its just too easy to get around, the Security Bots are so easy to avoid, I wish there was an extra element to it, like maybe don't make the Atrium that big, or maybe make it more cluttered and harder to get around. Something to make it a bit more difficult. The Atrium isnt the only room with this problem.
It's weird to me when you get spotted by a Helper Bot, Glamrock Chica, or Roxy, or Monty etc., would just teleport behind you. They just DBZ instant transmission right behind you. (I didn't know they had superpowers lol)
Their AI is also so easy to cheese, just jump onto an elevated surface, and they're no longer a problem (which also makes big rooms like the Atrium even EASIER)
Then there's the bugs. Oh. My. God. I don't like listing cons about this game cause its such a great idea, but there are just SO MANY BUGS. It seems like every room I went too, a new one just popped up. It could be Freddy glitching into the floor. It could be items randomly floating. It could be the robots getting stuck. This game is super glitchy, and the FPS nonsense makes this almost unplayable.
I barely managed to get through this game. I'm pretty sure if I had played the game any longer, my PC would've gone to computer heaven. I'm not joking, the fans were so loud it sounded like a jet was inside my room.
Overall, this game feels very rushed, (plus, this isn't even FNAF anymore, it's just Outlast's layout combined with Cyberpunk 2077's glitchiness combined with Freddy Fazbear) and I'm disappointed with that. But, I definitely feel like this game has potential, and I think this game will be better in the future (Steel Wool already said they're working on future updates/DLCs along with fixing the current problems)
I liked the idea of this game, but at this point, FNAF itself doesn't even feel like FNAF anymore.
RATING: 4.5/10
