Finally finished with these two, their new designs set in stone. Made to fix the shortcomings of my original designs. However, I'm not done yet. I still plan to redesign all the other characters I made. It took a while until I finally settled on their new color scheme and design. I chose a blue outline rather than a black or white one. Because white didn't feel right and black didn't stand out well from the colors. No more using a ballpoint pen for my art or using my initial art style.
I modeled Charcoal after Mickey Mouse, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Bugs Bunny, my Charcoal design in Sonic Forces (Sonic Forces is my favorite Sonic game, period. I'm well aware it's technically not a good game but I don't care. I liked it so much that I'm willing to overlook its flaws), Huckleberry Hound, Ricochet Rabbit, and Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. Made him skinnier with longer ears and a more rounded design. His skinny/noodle arms remind me of Olive Oyl from Popeye. (Didn't design them with Popeye in mind, just something I thought was worth bringing up)
I designed Clawson around Charcoal's new design with some Cheshire Cat, Shere Khan, Sylvester Cat, and Muttley. To make him look mean but lovable. This time, he has only one blue spot. Couldn't be bothered to add spots on every single comic with him. (I used preexisting characters as a reference)
This was a good learning experience for me, it taught me that cartoons are hard to get right.
