New Developer Update #1: The 'Old or New?' Game Engine Hassle
(Doing this dev update thing for just being organized and for habit reasons)

So an update on development, it's a bit of a deal breaker, but let's get into it.

Development is unfortunately slow still, along with a new hassle I had to deal with:

Development starting over on based on a game engine hassle

Around the time when building FNANS, I was mostly using GMS 1.4 (GameMaker Studio: 1.4), which has long been since discontinued, to put all of the code and assets together for the game, after a while of using it, the engine just seemed to be, not running properly?

By that, whenever I tested the game from the point on, it always seemed to lag behind or have slowdowns, with no way to fix or seal them up, although it could be from a windows update mucking about my settings that now makes it slower to test out and build.

So with no other options, I moved onto GMS 2.3, which was quite similar to GMS 1.4 in terms of almost everything, albeit with a couple of changes like more optimization options and better framerates.

What does this mean now?

Well, because of how similar both versions of GMS are, I'll be reimplementing and recoding the code to both be better organized and optimized, that means development is technically restarting, but will still be a bit quicker due to me still having the art and sound assets, along with the original source code to rework with.

On that note..

I'm sorry if the full game hasn't been released by now, but I want this project to be as nicely put together and with fun and effort put into it, as someone once said, "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad" (well kinda' not bad forever, but still, you get the point), and I'll be using all that time to keep the game polished and still fun for you all to enjoy and have fun yourselves.

Anyways, take care of yourself, and I'll see you all soon when the game's done.

This is Mark, zapping 'his way through game development' out!

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

My D&D art for my family so far (WIP if you couldn't tell)

I did this on my 3DS ^^ #Kirby

It's now possible to destroy some of the obstacles and gain access to new locations or create shortcuts. #gamedev #indiegame #rpg
