So, you might have noticed that the screenshots, description, and gameplay footage currently up seemed a bit light on actual story info. You know, LITERALLY THE KEY ASPECT OF AN RPG?

Well, consider this a TLDR for what the story is about. Anything is subject to change, no spoilers, yada yada yada.

You are a young person living in the village of NOTDON, a somewhat technologically advanced society living atop a craggy mountain. It is a small village, with only a handful of inhabitants, but it has a number of cool things to see, like a jet hanger, an underground research facility, and a serene ocean view. Life is pretty nice, but rapid advancement of technology, a limited amount of space on the mountain, and the increasing problems with the village power plant mean that that may soon change. Not good stuff.

That is where the Explorer program comes in. From birth, the children of NOTDON undergo training, both mentally and physically. Then, they are released in groups to freely explore the world. Some come back, some don't, but they all bring at least something back home - like the knowledge that your village isn't alone.

In fact, they are far from alone. To the west, past the Hollow Grotto, lies the sprawling city of TITAN ROCK, an ever growing metropolis. It ain't very advanced (or clean), but it is definitely impressive. To the east, across the Shallow Sea, sits the picturesque ISLA NODA DOMA. A tropical paradise, the island is the home of a dormant volcano, and, in its shadow, a small, peaceful village. And to the north, there are the clouds and nothing else. I think.

So, NOTDON is not alone. That definitely blew people's minds.

But now, you as part of the newest batch of Explorers will be going there. At the beginning of the game, you will be at the outset of your journey. There is no plan, no specific destination. You and your associates ('friends' would be a stretch) will vote on a place to go, and head in that direction. All that is required of you is that you return to home to bring news of your journey. And maybe these.

These are MINERALS. According to the village's leader, finding these will fix the power plant and consequentially all the village's problems. She's smart and trustworthy, so they're definitely important things to find.

And that's pretty much the game's story! What happens after that is your journey, so you'll have to wait to play it to find out!
