I've been thinking months on how to approach the answers, as well demotivated to write it all down, and well, here we are! Look down below for the FAQ!


DAFS Short FAQ

Q: How much of the game is inspired by SEGASonic?

A: Sonic, Mighty, and Ray for the X Bros. vessel, and the uses of the text boxes from the game. Other than that, the game’s main inspiration came from an old homebrew MS-DOS Sonic 1 port, and Mi ni Ikuzo! Hedgehog. 

Q: What do you have planned for the build?

A: I cannot spill exactly everything at this moment as I am not entirely sure how it is all going to play out, but it is going to be a simple one act demo.

It kinda plays a little tribute to the original Tokyo Toy Show prototype of the original Sonic The Hedgehog, acting more or less a short demo to give you what is in store. 

Q: So how does this game/prototype play(as in the formula for the game’s pacing)

A: The very goal is to make it feel like Another ‘doujin Sonic game on the The Sharp x68000’ or an ‘EXE fan-game that is more arcade-based’.

Tldr; it won’t play like your typical EXE game pre-say outside having the Sonic.exe elements reversed. Just think of it as a very bizarre Sonic The Hedgehog homebrew if that makes sense.

Q: How prevalent would the “spooky” side of it be? For example, would it be possible to play the game ordinarily, but dig deeper into the root of everything if you intend on doing so

A: The ‘spooky’ stuff hides behind the whimsical, and dark comedical side of the game. Just don’t be sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. :]

Q: Will there be more story explained in-game?

A: I am not entirely sure, especially when we’re talking about a  prototype built, but there will be tiny crumbs here and there.

Q: What mechanics will we see in the game?

 

A: You will be seeing a couple, such as how Hyperstar forms act for ex. I am still working on how to balance all it out so it doesn’t become a major hindrance to the game’s experience.

Q: Can you play as mighty?

A: As in ApeX? Yes. All of the X Bros. will be playable in the prototype built. 

Q: Will they have the power form mechanic and custom abilities?

A: Yes, each of the X Bros will have their own little tiny quirks.

Q: Do you plan for the game to have voice lines? If so, are there any VA's for the characters yet?

A: Yes and no. Since the game was developed as a japanese game, I lacked the foresight to recognize that I do not have proper Japanese VAs, let alone finding someone who can speak Japanese. The game is meant to have voice samples, so for the prototype demo, it will unfortunately may end up silent until further notice.

I do have English VAs, so a non-canon English translation may be possible, or find a way to mimic ‘Engrish’.

Q: Are there any Easter eggs planned to appear like exes from other creators have cameos?

A: nah.
