At least doing documents in Office still fundamentally has its manual tools like it always has for several years, and there is only one AI component on the editor, but I have to wonder how long it lasts until they freaking make everything automatic and then a massive backlash happens.
Though, maybe it's unlikely for that to happen considering that several schools and academics (including my college) still heavily relies on Microsoft Office and its manual tools, and it's basically a requirement, which is fine by me. I grew up with Office.
If MS does actually make everything automatic, there would have to be a huge mountain of lawsuits, but who even knows at this rate?
Should you be angry? No, not really.
But this is definitely annoying.
I can ignore these banners and offers as always, but every time I see stuff like this, it's a hint they haven't learn their lesson, and it's going to be incredibly hard for them to change because they are kind of delusional about AI, objectively. They are holding their false beliefs so much, and they're the only ones who won't shut up about AI.
Sure, some Copilot stuff is somewhat useful, it could save you some time, but most people are just going to be lazy and leave the nonsensical, overly casual, and overly enthusiastic stuff it generates (big reason why it is called slop in the first place).
At the end of the day, this is just something not a lot of people is going to use. I don't really use it that much, either.
Some traditions simply can't be broken, like making stuff ourselves just fine, lol.
