Additionally, I will also be including special personal introspectives on each game I showcase, including why I chose the specific character for the game! As such, I'd like to share my personal love letter for FNAF 1!
I chose Freddy for FNAF 1 because... why the heck WOULDN'T I? He's literally the main mascot of the franchise and the namesake of the games, it would be insane for me NOT to draw him! You gotta know where the roots lie, you know? But back to the matter at hand...
FNAF 1 is an absolute classic. It was the first horror game of its kind and is the reason this franchise even became so big in the first place (although Chipper & Sons technically contributed more if you really think about it). The atmosphere in the game was top-notch, and it felt like just the perfect vibe to hit that certain tick in your head. I'm sure all of us have been to Chuck E. Cheese's at least ONCE in our lifetimes, and you might have been scared of the robots there. Scott definitely knew what he was doing making the characters give off such an unnerving feeling at every moment possible. I STILL remember crying when I first got jumpscared by Foxy, because seeing him running down the hallway so quickly and smoothly legit rewired my brain! The lore was so small back then, but even without any of the crazy stuff that's happening with it now, you could still very much understand it. Kids were murdered, and their bodies were stuffed into the animatronics, possessing them. Easy! Honestly, if FNAF never got any sequels and was just a one-time thing, I could legit see this as being a solid standalone experience. Even small stuff like The Bite of 87' (which we still don't know who did it by the way) felt so interesting because of the implied brutality of it. Golden Freddy is such an awesome Easter egg, having a whole secret character like that be in the game and not even remotely hinting about it is so clever, especially because if FNAF 1 didn't do well, then it would've just been another off-hand moment that would never get explained (just like modern FNAF, haha!). In general, while FNAF 1 isn't my absolute FAVORITE in the franchise, it IS definitely iconic, and its legacy shall never be forgotten! I hope you enjoyed this little reading of mine!
