Welcome to my first Fangame review! Today, we’re diving into the GOAT of FNaF fangames and my personal favorite: Project Readjusted 3.

[SPOILER WARNING]

Project Readjusted 3 is an indie horror game inspired by Five Nights at Freddy’s and the final entry in the highly underrated Project Readjusted trilogy. Made by @Mechlus . The game places you in the shoes of a character trying to find Mathew [REDACTED], uncovering dark secrets along the way as you navigate a sinister deal with a mysterious group hiding behind white rabbit masks. What starts as a straightforward mission turns into a complex and eerie descent into madness.

Story:

The story is a continuation of the first two installments, which makes it rewarding for fans of the series but possibly abstract for new players. However, this ambiguity adds to the game’s eerie atmosphere, especially if you're into unraveling mysteries. Personally, I think the story’s depth really shines in how it blends into the gameplay, leaving you to piece things together as you fend off enemies.

Gameplay:

Let me be clear: Project Readjusted 3 lacks NOTHING. It's creative, innovative, and, most importantly, it’s actually fun. Unlike other fangames that can feel overly competitive or punishing, Project Readjusted 3 is balanced while keeping you on your toes. The mechanics are fresh and engaging, earning it the nickname "the glowstick version."

You’ll be using a variety of tools: a camera system, a conveyor belt, a bell, and a glowstick, all while delivering boxes to three patients who hold crucial information about Mathew. The enemies you face are some of the most unique and well designed animatronics in fangame history, each with their own mechanics to keep things challenging.

The game features five Main enemies:

  • Busted: A more destroyed version of Buster from previous games. He lurks through the halls and hides in the shadows. You’ll need to track him via the cameras while juggling the task of delivering boxes. Busted can even kill the patients, leaving them dead for the remainder of the game, which directly impacts both your gameplay and your ending. To fend him off, ring the bell on your desk and shine your glowstick around the office, but be warned: Busted loves to play tricks and sometimes shows up without warning, even when you don't spot him on the cameras.

  • Hallucinations (Dog & Cat): These ghostly, melted versions of their minigame counterparts can't kill you at least, as far as I know but they do scare the patients, which complicates your objectives. The dog appears in the office, requiring you to flash it with the glowstick, while the cat pops up on the cameras, forcing you to keep a close eye on them.

  • Subject Model #3: Appearing randomly on Night 5, this character acts as a final boss of sorts. His arrival is teased only in the patient hub, making his presence feel sudden and unexpected, especially since the phone calls stop after Night 3. He moves between the cameras and hates being looked at, so you need to switch cameras quickly or he’ll block them. If you can't locate him, he’s probably in your office, and that’s when you need to ring the bell fast to avoid a deadly encounter.

  • Subjected Member: This secret character might appear randomly during a night, but you can also choose him in the custom night. He patrols the halls, and you'll know he’s coming by the sound of his footsteps. To send him away, activate the conveyor belt, and he’ll leave after a short time.

The game also includes Minigames after each night, which delve into the backstory of the original Buster's location. While it can feel a bit complicated, the story is told well enough that you don’t have to play the previous games to grasp the basics.

Unique Features:

One of the most innovative features is the Patient Hub, where you interact with the very people you’re trying to save. This adds a whole new emotional layer to the game, building connections with the patients as their development unfolds throughout the story. It’s a fantastic touch that makes you care about more than just surviving the night.

There’s also an Online mode, styled after the minigames, though it’s unfortunate that nobody seems to be playing it these days :(

Sound and Graphics:

On the technical side, Project Readjusted 3 is pure brilliance. The sound design is nothing short of peak horror game quality. With a chilling original soundtrack composed by @efefski , the game immerses you in its haunting atmosphere. Every sound, from the distant echo of footsteps to the menacing growl of animatronics, is perfectly timed to keep you on edge.

As for the graphics? They still hold up incredibly well today. The environments are detailed, the animatronics are terrifying, and the performance was buttery smooth during my playthrough. In short, it’s a visual and auditory masterpiece, especially for a fangame.

Final Thoughts:

Project Readjusted 3 is a gem in the FNaF fangame community. It pushes boundaries with its creative mechanics, engaging story, and unforgettable atmosphere. While it may not be the easiest to jump into for new players, it’s still an experience worth having for any fan of horror games.
