Pulling the Plug (v2.0.0)

As mentioned earlier, all of the game’s online functionality is now gone or deprecated in favor of saving to your own machine. But don’t worry, your old save data hasn’t gone anywhere!

Here’s what that means for you:

  • When you first load the game, your last-played save file (if any) will automatically be loaded into the first save slot (of 5).

  • If you have other online save files, you can press “Import Online Save” to log in to download them to your computer.

  • Your save data will not be automatically synced

  • Your highscores will no longer be uploaded to carnageinspace.com (and the highscores option on the title screen has been removed).

The online service will continue to be available for the forseeable future, so your old online save data will not be lost.

Note: If you’d like to sync your game data on the GameJolt version, you can use your favorite file-syncing service to sync this folder (on Windows):
C:\Users[Your username]\Saved Games\Carnage in Space Ignition

Oodles of options!

Accessibility aids aplenty!

I added some more settings lately to toggle distorted graphics, fine-tune the audio mixing, and other stuff. Hopefully this should make the game accessible to more kinds of players.

Some new background elements in Chapter 4 (N). The sky's a little less barren now that there are more floating rocks off in the background.

These also use 3D depth for accurate scaling, parallax scrolling, and distance fog.

The poll is over, and Tuhrahkkkii is the winner!

With that, Crucible phase 2 has begun.

For more Carnage in Space news, I highly recommend you take a look over on the sequel's devlog:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're still at it!

Special number 2: Javelin Fusillade.

That's quite a lot of javelins. And a lot of explosions. I don't think this guy is ever going to calm down.

READY YOUR WISHLISTS!

Chapter 6 (K) is DONE! Kodon's story is nearly at a close.

A lot of work has gone into the game in since my last post, but we're deep into SPOILER territory, so all you get is a single out-of-context screenshot.

I'm not sorry.

(So close to release! AAAH!)

There's more!

Crimson doesn't know the meaning of overkill! Just how many attacks does he have at his disposal?

I'll give you a hint: More than this.

We haven't even seen his specials in play yet...

Wait, there's MORE???

...

Oh yeah, there's more. Once you annoy Crimson enough, he starts busting out the specials. This one, Flechette Storm, is just one of those screen-engulfing special moves you'll have to contend with!

But even that isn't the end...

BOOM.

This is Crimson's final attack, Entropy Bomb.

This is what happens when Crimson runs out of patience and is done playing with you.

I'd wish you good luck, but I don't think that's going to help.

Chapter 4 (K) is DONE! And about time too - that's my longest level to date.

With that, Phase 3 (of 3) Milestone 2 (of 4) is now done! The end of this 7+ year project is finally nearing completion, and I can't wait to share it with you all.
