the currency system currently has no use but in 0.1.4 (around Sep 2024) shops will be added
you keep the data you have in 0.1.3 ( and it will stay for later beta builds too)
current sources of money:
-chance to drop by a defeated zombie
-lawnmowers that are not used after a level ends
-beating a level you have already beaten
