Fredbear was the face of Fredbear's Entertainment circa 1970-1983 it would be on the mainstage next to Bonnie. The character's best friend, where they would preform shows for hours on end.

On a technical side Fredbear is the second iteration of the "Springlock" suit the original being quite dangerous to wear. William with the help of Henry came up with the second design. However it is incredibly heavy and bulky so Fredbear is kept mainly in Animatronic mode although it is a wearable suit.
Fredbear was actually the brainchild of William's old childhood drawings and Henry's great naming skills and was one of the two first animatronic in Fredbear's Family Diner.
Whenever worn, although rarely, co-owner Henry Emily would be the "Springlock Actor" for Fredbear, this was due to the fact that he did not trust the other Springlock suits enough to wear them.

Fredbear's Removal from Mainstage
During the later half of 1983 a tragedy would occur with co-owner, William Afton and his sons. Where the eldest of the two, Michael, with a group of 3 other teens would shove the youngest, Evan, into the mouth of the Fredbear animatronic. The Animatronics' mouth had a bug where the jaw's weight was grossly miscalculated allowing the animatronic to "lift" it's jaw at extreme pace and with crushing force. Such as that killed Evan Afton.
After the "Bite of 83'" the Fredbear Animatronic was hastily moved to the backrooms and taken apart to be used for spare parts. No one however could bare to clean the suit up. Freddy was moved to the mainstage as his replacement.
Fredbear's Family Diner was closed soon after the Incidents of 1984.
