Now that the demo has been released, I'm incredibly thankful for the amount of support and feedback this project has been given. I'd like to thank everyone who has taken their time to play and has reported their experience back to me so that I can improve the game.
In addition, I'm going to change the format of how I'm reporting back to followers of the AU. If I'm not too busy, there will be early, mid and late monthly progress reports. I can't make a very heavy promise, but I will say there will at least be 1 progress report every month.
I will also advise that players should read the game description before playing. Many players have encountered disappointment as they had a set of expectations for the game that it would not be a visual novel, but a bullet-hell RPG game like Undertale. It is a visual novel, but it will try its best to retain RPG elements from Undertale.
✧ So... now what? ✧
Well, we wait.
Well... okay, I guess you waited long enough for a celebration of the Undertale AU Soundcloud community. You will have to wait, but not for too long.
There are 2 planned major patches that will be released, with the first happening hopefully by the end of the month since my school holidays are also ending.
Recognized Maniacs - Version 1.1.0 - Chapter 1: Demo, Gameplay Improvements and Bug Fixes
With the feedback I've received, I'll be tweaking some of the annoying gameplay features, primarily some of the buggy screens and the encounter tiles mechanic. Some of the game will be rewritten/rephrased, so you can expect the more lovable characters to be more lovable and the unlikeable characters to be more tolerable. The entirety of chapter 1 won't be rewritten, but players have noticed a few things that are off with some characters, their theming and their symbolisms. You can expect these things to be complete by the end of July.
I'll also be covering bug fixes all in one go, it'll be too troublesome for me to go back and forth with minor bug patches. Smaller patches might happen if I missed a really important detail.
Recognized Maniacs - Version 1.2.0 - Chapter 1: Demo, Art Asset Overhaul
The RM Demo was created with a much smaller team and also in private. You would have noticed that this game and project also seemingly came out of nowhere. Now that we're in the public eye, you can expect that we'll be taking in team members too and the art department will also be expanding. We're aiming to overhaul the sprites for the major characters with a variety of expressions, so that there's more of a visual novel feel to it and it's less like a png flash animation type of thing.
The art asset overhaul update may take longer than the gameplay improvements update.
Don't be afraid to contact any of the RM Dev Team for any questions. You may also contact me, the lead programmer, on Discord at shipel#8988
