REVENGE's 1st devlog: A new chapter for the project.


It is typical for fangames related to "REVENGE: The Unseen Ending" to be cancelled, so it is clear that many people do not place expectations on such a project, it has even become a meme by the way.

  • "Yay! I can't wait for this to be cancelled!"

  • "A good project to eventually be thrown in the trash."

HOWEVER...

Yes, the old "REVENGE: The Odious Restart" has returned, debuting its new name which is "REVENGE: Endgame"!

I confess that, during these months that I didn't work for REVENGE due to the project's cancellation, I felt very uncomfortable about throwing an incredible idea into oblivion, so I gave it another chance, and here we are, with a new restart of the project, showing new plans made by me throughout this time.

Now without further ado, let's get straight to the point.


  • Why the name "Endgame"? I thought "The Odious Restart" one was so [your adjective here].

Since the real beginning of the project, I always found a name that intertwined with "The Unseen Ending", but I didn't want to just put synonyms of words to make something very dry and dull, it was then that I researched several names until I found "Endgame", which makes more sense as it covers more topics in REVENGE that will be shown later.

(The name was supposed to be "The Endgame", but by unanimous vote, "Endgame" was the best choice.)

This name better fits the objective of the project, which is to show the final parts of the Genocide Route, instead of being a name that only gives the spotlight to Sans, and also that I have already received several criticisms from former team members that "The Odious Restart" was a good, but generic name, so this fangame needed a new brand name that brought more meaning and depth.

Well...

Yeah, this name is more peak than the previous one, I must say.

  • P.S.: NO, THERE'LL NOT BE A FIGHT AGAINST THANOS IN THIS FANGAME. I'M NOT SO STUPID.


  • What's new in this fangame?

It's a complicated question to answer, because in the old devlogs we didn't show much conceptual progress, more so the percentage of the fangame ready, and that kind of didn't help viewers to know what the real fangame's concept is, so let's say that "the new features are a renewal of what was not shown", which are the visuals and story, which are not so far from the original REVENGE proposal, but which are still good concepts.

And as many want to know, allow me to introduce the concepts prepared for now.


  • Sans's design.

Uh... As the owner of this fangame, let's say I suck at deciding cast designs, so much so that I thought so much, but really "original" and "convincing" ideas weren't thought of. But then I thought "Hmm, I like a overcoat and that Gaster Blaster design on Sans' hand", so... ta-da!

Although it seems like a cute and simplistic design, let's just say we have a super cool idea when it comes to making the battle sprites, so this is what we have for now for Sans' design.

The reason that previous design (him dressed in Papyrus's coat) was excluded is because of the design sense itself, as not even the monster's clothes are left when they turn to dust, also, a coat together with a scarf is an unnecessary filler of details, and could be improved into something more... coherent with what is planned for ACT 2 and 3.


  • Napstaton NEO's design.

With permission from my friend December/Oppolostic, we have introduced the new design that will be used in the fight against Napstaton NEO.

Well, you saw that the main cast has really cool designs, especially Napstaton, so I recommend that you support December on DeviantArt, trust me, his sprites are really cool.


  • What about the rooms?

I don't want to give spoilers about the ACT 1 (Part 1) rooms, as I think it's an idea that might surprise you, but I'm not going to leave it blank and talk about the Core, the room used in the second part of ACT 1.

  • CORE.

Due to the evacuations of the monsters, Undyne saw that the entire battalion in Snowdin and Waterfall proved to be nothing close to the grandeur of the human, so the CORE went into "Red Alert", where the Royal Guard was concentrated at that point as an emergency level at that time. Aesthetically, the CORE will have those emergency sirens, a detail very inspired by the fangame "UNDERFELL: One Hell of a Show", what an incredible and inspiring fangame. Play this, as it inspired me to this detail that will be so iconic during ACT 1.

  • But what if the Royal Guard lost?

Thus, Undyne's grandiose invention will be starred: Napstaton NEO.

As a result of assisting in the evacuations, Undyne decided to invest time in improving the queen's last defense card, which is Napstaton, charged with DETERMINATION energy, which is the pinnacle of power-up and magnificence of underground mechanics. So, this battle will take your foot off the ground.


  • And the long-awaited ACT 3 (the treasure we never received)?

Intertwine some points, as some details reveal the mechanics that will be used in ACT 3, that's all I'm saying for now.

  • "Wait, don't keep us curious-"

Well, it's time to finish the post!


  • Conclusion.

I'm really optimistic about the new chance I'll give to this project, as the team I'm managing is one of the biggest influencers on this page, and I trust that the end result will be something great. I really hope that it's not a remake that gets canceled in the future, because I don't know what the future holds for me, but I'm hopeful that that won't happen, because I've learned from my mistakes.
