Review Everything! Season 2
Episode 5 | Playtime with Percy

Hello everyone, this is I. And welcome back to Review Everything! reviewing everything I can do. It has been a few months since 2 last game review, now I'm gotta do it again but this time is the one that got me so bad

Playtime with Percy (2023)

This next episode is another fnaf fangame called Playtime with Percy is a traditional-styled #fnaf #fangame with the primary gameplay structure being revolved around The Pal Percy; a Tamagotchi-like toy. With the core gameplay loop being “Tasked Based / End at Your Own Pace” instead of the classic “Survive from 12AM to 6AM” formula. Playtime with Percy is an indie point-and-click fangame inspired by Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. The game utilizes hybrid animation to establish an exclusive ambiance, complemented by a deliberately designed gameplay system that can be exasperating yet satisfying.

The game was made by @FazieFunbear with 3k Game followers for PWP. This is the game that everyone has been waiting for. a fnaf fangame with a louder jumpscare than other fnaf fangames (even though the "other" fnaf fangames jumpscare still got me)

Now, I never beat the whole game but I'm still reviewing this game, anyway, here's the synopsis according to the gamepage:

"After the failure of the latest entertainment establishment; Percy's Playhouse, you're called by your boss. He informs you that later this week, Percy's is set to be completely demolished for good. So what's the catch here?

Most of the place is cleaned out, and ready for its name to be history. Fortunately, you're tasked with watching over the place for that week. Making sure no one breaks in, steals any valuable equipment, and that everything is accounted for before the demolishment on Friday.

Everything needs to be in order. Especially Percy Poodle & Co."

and of course the rest of the story
(WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILER)

Nick, the game's main character, previously worked for Percy Poodle & Co. but was unexpectedly fired despite being a hard worker. This leads to legal troubles for Nick as he struggles to find a new job and pay his debt. One day, his former boss calls him and offers him $250 to stay overnight at Percy's Playhouse to prevent theft of valuable artifacts before they are sold. The playhouse is scheduled for demolition due to its decline since Nick was fired. With his passion for the animatronic cast and desperate need for income, Nick reluctantly agrees.

As Nick works at the playhouse, he uses a handheld device called Pal Percy to pass the time. The device is a Tamagotchi-styled hand-held device in need to constantly be fed, given water, and entertained. While fending off the animatronics, which were believed to be shut down by Nick, the gameplay focuses on completing a set number of tasks to progress through the night. Each night, more animatronics, including withered and unfinished ones, become active as Nick continues his job.

After each night, Nick must complete additional missions to assist the boss in preparing the animatronics and artifacts for sale before the demolition. This involves auctioning animatronics for the ideal price, testing arcade machines, and fixing the animatronics before they are put up for retail. During these segments, the animatronics are still active and are actively hunting you down in the dark.

After finishing his Wednesday shift, Nick stumbles upon a disk that he can use with his television. Leaving it behind would have allowed the game to progress as usual, but picking it up leads Nick to try and play it on his home television before going to bed. Upon Nick leaving, the tape sheds light on corrupted nature of the Pal Percy toy, exclaiming that it poses a danger to both children and adults. Despite the signs of corruption becoming more evident as the game progresses, Nick chooses to overlook them and continues with his job at the playhouse.

During the final night of his job, Nick is tasked with repairing the Percy Poodle animatronic. However, the machine's battery begins to fail, emitting smoke from its stomach. The Boss instructs Nick to find an alternative power source for Percy. In a desperate attempt, Nick decides to use the battery in his Pal Percy toy to power the animatronic until he can find a new battery. Unbeknownst to Nick, the corrupted nature of the Pal Percy toy results in it infecting the animatronic, causing it to malfunction and ultimately taking control of it.

Terrified by the animatronics attack, Nick desperately runs and finds refuge in the Storage Closet without realizing it. Inside, he must find a way to defend himself against the Pal Percy and the corrupted versions of other animatronics, as well as prototype versions of the Pal Percy toys that try to latch onto him. The night is divided into six phases, each adding on a different challenge for Nick to overcome.

After Nick painfully goes through all six phases, the Pal Percy confronts Nick directly. It demands that he plays with him for eternity, but finally, Nick summons the courage to refuse. Enraged by Nick's refusal, Pal Percy binds him with wires, preparing to kill him. Just as Pal Percy is about to unleash its deadly attack, the toy is suddenly distracted by someone speaking. This unexpected interruption diverts Pal Percy's attention away from Nick.

As the wrecking ball crashes into the building, it collides with Pal Percy, causing the toy to be knocked out of the corrupted Percy Poodle body, rendering the Pal Percy toy inoperative. The toy makes one final attempt to manipulate Nick, but Nick rushes out of the wrecked establishment and is greeted by his boss, who was worried about his whereabouts. Together, they abandon the site and decide to go out for a meal. However, even as they enjoy their meal, they are unaware that the Pal Percy toy is still active, presumably waiting for their next victim.

8/10 story for this one

Percy Poodle - Main Mascot
Mother Moose - Vent Character 1
Charlie Cat - Vent Character 2
Farmer Felix - ferret hardworking farmer
Rowen Rat - literally a Crawler Rat
Nick - Main Protagonist
John Johnson - Manager
"Pal" Percy - Main Antagonist
And other characters from bonuses & Custom Hour

The Character's designs in the game are so good, they do have animations for the main gameplay and even post-night. I just love their animations, sounds, and everything, it's perfect.

20230805_235658.png

The gameplay starts off from a room with toys surrounding you and vents on your left and right, PalPercy and Pal-boy are all you need. The PalPercy is a key to your survival, you have to feed, fill, and play with him until you've reached the goal, and you have to repeat the same stuff until you reach it.

Pal-Boy is also important to keep Rowen Rat away from deactivating cameras, you have to find him through the other side of the camera system to the motion detector Radar System, that's how you find him when the radar turns red, you have to find him really fast before he hits a button to shut your tablet down, which is impossible because the warning sign is not for Rowen Rat. If this is your first time playing, the warning sign is the sign that Playful Percy is destroying your camera in one of these 6 rooms. You have to find them before they let Rowen Rat enter your room

After reaching the PalPercy goal, you will get sent into the post-night sequence, every post-night has a different task, you have to fix, have to play an arcade, fix again, and solve more puzzles to reveal secrets through Percy Playhouse. However, in the mid-sequence, the puzzle is getting harder and harder until your finger explodes.

Again, THIS... is a fnaf fangame, everything, and mechanics are different in each game

20230805_235734.png

The mechanics in this game is phenomena, let me tell you how to beat this game in a hard way as I do.

  • for Mother Moose, she will come to your room and you have to pull out your PalPercy/Pal-Boy to avoid her

  • for Charlie Cat, the same thing but reverse

  • for Farmer Felix, you have to match the color of his eyes, to do this you have to look over the Simon says with 4 colors on it, and press the same color as Felix's eyes

  • for Percy however, he's gonna walk slowly toward your room and you have to lock it before he does (you have to hold it to lock the door)

  • for Rowen Rat... my nemesis over there, you have to look after him and shock him in the same room, you have to find it through the camera in Radar System, if you see the yellow color, look after the yellow, you have to find the same room and stay there until you can tase him.

  • Playful Percy is the problem that causes you to shut your camera down, not only Rowen Rat can but those mini Percy can do it too when they stay in one of these 6 rooms. If the warning sign appears on the "E" UI, find them and stare at them until they leave, and then you can find Rowen Rat through the radar.

For the PalPercy mechanic... I like that mechanic, Fazie really did make it look like Tamagotchi, which is the toy I had and have gone with for years

Now there are a lot of details in this game, I will tell you ALMOST every single detail and secret/easter egg around the game.

  1. This first detail is from the cutscenes art, all of the cutscenes art was created by @Vampymatsu (go support her, she did a very good job on these cutscenes) All of these cutscenes art are so good, I can see all details laying around the corner, floors, and walls, that's a "good art" award for Vampy herself

  2. Same ol' honking easter egg, heh... this time there are two plushies on the table you can honk to

  3. In the Blue Storage room, there was a box with the other Fangame Developer heads inside, I love this kind of easter egg because I like it (Oh yeah, there are more of them in other rooms, some of them are Game Dev and some of them are not)

  4. This one is from the main menu, if you playing it for the first time, try to move your mouse all around, you will see that the PalPercy eyes were following your mouse cursor, which is a really good detail when you play it for the first time

  5. After getting an ending, you'll get a sticker on PalPercy which is surprisingly referencing another horror game "Amanda The Adventurer" except this fangame was developed WAY back before Amanda The Adventurer

  6. This last detail I've found is from Fazie's game intro, referencing not other than The Banana Split comedic series theme song. Which is the one Fazie made not one but two games with FNaF-style

"One banana two banana three banana four
All bananas make a split so do many more
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Come along to bring you the banana splits show"

    still loves The Dickies version

That's all I can find. If you found more details, secrets/easter eggs, you can tell us right in the comments

The soundtrack was composed by @martinarthur with help from @DiceGames as a composer's assistance, I-... I don't need to say anything about it... it's a f-cking banger, even the final boss... This goes to the Soundtrack of the year.

Now for the sound effect, that's the one I wanna talk about. The sound effect was created by @Pieceofkake , she did a really good job on these sound designs! The jumpscares are one of the loudest jumpscares ever in my whole life. I love the movement sounds for the animatronics that is moving around the building, the way Percy banging on the door got me panicked a lot!

20230806_000017.png

Before you see how much I rate this game, I have something to say to Fazie. I'm gonna applaud and congrats Fazie for releasing the game, becoming successful 1 hour after the game was released, and getting super-positive reviews on this game, applause to Fazie... so proud, love the team, love the game too.

Now let's get into the rating, the story is good, cool characters designs, the gameplay is awesome, the mechanics are very unique, the soundtrack is fire and banger, and the sound effect is very good

I give this game a...

10/10. "One of the most best 2D/3D FNaF Fangame I've ever played"

I love this game, man
