Review Everything! Season 2
Season Finale | Don't Tap The Glass

1. BODY MOVEMENT, NO SITTING STILL

Hello, everyone. It is I. Welcome back to Review Everything, Season 2. This is the last time I review on this platform, and I will try to make my own website based on this.

2. ONLY SPEAK IN GLORY, LEAVE YOUR BAGGAGE AT HOME

In this finale, for the first time in Review Everything, I will be reviewing a music album. Today's review will be around "Tyler, The Creator", with his recent album, "Don't Tap The Glass."

Now, if you don't know who he is and what he is,

Tyler, The Creator (real name, Tyler Gregory Okonma) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has been cited as an influential figure in alternative hip-hop during the 2010s. Tyler became well known in the late 2000s, when he emerged on the internet as the leader and co-founder of the music collective Odd Future. Within the group, Tyler participated as a rapper, producer, director, and actor, releasing studio albums that he produced for its respective members. Tyler also performed on the group's sketch comedy show Loiter Squad (2012–2014).

For the Album,

3. DON'T TAP THE GLASS

is the ninth studio album by American rapper Tyler, the Creator. It was released on July 21, 2025, through Columbia Records. I've been listening to Tyler before it was announced. Feels like I knew something was coming from him. I love Chromakopia, I love IGOR, Flower Boy, Wolf, CMIYGL, so this album must've been the same.

Now, for the music review, I'm just gonna jump straight onto the tracks, instead of production, how it was made, the marketing, and much more. I'm just going to explain the beat, the lyrics, and the meaning of everything.

Alright, let's get right into the first track...

20250722_134851.png

For the very first track of this album, my head was boppin' while listening; even the lyrics are too many bars for bars.

Even more surprising, Pharrell returns as a feature, his first song since IFHY. There is one line that is so true. I don't trust white people with dreadlocks.

The beat reminds me of those 2000s teenage songs, those skateboarding footage with this kind of beat. And that is a good thing because I like those things.

And also, while I was writing this review, I figured out why it's called "Don't Tap The Glass." It's because Tyler doesn't want you to pause or skip any songs.

You play the first track, then you have to wait until the 10th track. And for that one rule, "only speak in glory, leave your baggage at home," meaning that everything he says in this album is all facts and truth, but leaving all controversial and sad verse out of the way.

Nothing special in this track, but an introduction to his new Alter Ego, Big Poe. And I've been listening to this a few times, or maybe too many times. It's a perfect start for an album, getting you pumped up and hype for the next.

20250722_135026.png

I don't know why but this one is my favorite track in the album so far until I listened to the first track for a few times.

This track is involved with CMIYGL's last track, SORRY NOT SORRY, Tyler Baudelaire. The part where he is sorry that he hid some of his secrets from his parent, now he has to tell his parent about his sexuality.

And it was also involved with the same album's 10th track, SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE. The part where he said, "They should call you sugar, you're so sweet." In this track, at the FIRST verse, he... well, he said some very no-no stuff.

This track is my favorite because of the beat. It reminds me that sometimes the 1980s are not that bad.

20250722_135148.png

This one involved around "That Guy," a remix of Kendrick's "Hey Now." With just a little reference at the chorus, you'll notice it. This track is also based on his experience in LA, his hometown. And the money he earned throughout his career.

For the beat, it is an absolute chilling track; you can barely vibe with it. It also reminds me of Bruno Mars because of that backup vocal.

20250722_135225.png

This one is nothing special, but an interlude before Stop Playing With Me. This track is also a warning that he's telling you that the next one is going to be controversial, but it is NOT going to target you, but someone everyone knows.

20250722_135328.png

On this track, it has so many references and mentions in just one track.

There's 2Pac, there's LeBron (bars), Maverick Carter, and a damn car (F40). There are also easter eggs in the music video as well. Including an actual LeBron, Clipse, Pusha T, Mav Carter, and Malice.

Yes, there is a music video. You can watch it over here:
https://youtu.be/pmlqEKklWqs?si=xKvjxhgQZr7j1OoU

What makes this track special but controversial at the same time is an obvious secret diss on the one and only, the Canadian, Drake.

It's on the chorus, effing his mother, bringing LeBron in the video, and of course, effing toward him.

And then after this track, it transitions back to peace and a chilling beat, and this time the lyrics transition to a lover

And that is...

20250722_154730.png

For this track, it goes toward his ex. Missing what they've done back in the day, tries to call 'em back many times, and shows his love toward them.

If you're familiar with the beat he's choosing, maybe it's because of someone else's music, Baby Hotline by Jack Stauber. Or, maybe it's because of Tyler's other track in the other album, I THINK, in IGOR, and also his "unreleased" track, NUMBER NUMBER, in CMIYGL.

The reason is that every time I play this track, I always start with I THINK chorus part.

There are also many references, but it's in the chorus part, the ring, and saying hello. It's a direct reference to his other tracks in the other albums, Answer in Wolf, I Ain't Got Time!, 911 / Mr. Lonely, November, Glitter in Flower Boy, and DOGTOOTH in CMIYGL: The Estate Sale.

Too many ring and hello are mentioned around these tracks I just named.

20250722_175810.png

Immediately, the beat reminds me of any 90s rap song. I don't know why, don't ask me, ask Tyler.

Anyway, just like other tracks in this album, this one has some references and mentions at the start and near the end.

Including: Mike Jordan's eyes, F40 car, King Kong (mentioning that he is an eater), mentioning his experience on his Chromakopia concert tour at Crypto, and Michael Jackson's hee hee.

At the very start of this track, Tyler mentions the album name, except it's "Don't Tap THAT Glass." And a monster, he meant the one that's actually in the set box at Barclay’s Center.

image.png

Not just that, the repeating phrase is also a reminder for the listener to NOT touch your (yes, you) phone, or pause the track.

20250722_141527.png

This track is also a vibe. Nothing special, but only one verse in this whole song to explain.

There's this character, Daisy, who feels disappointed because of Tyler's inability to impress or satisfy her. She's giving his efforts of trying 3/10 because he kept falling asleep before she did anything. Tyler quickly reminisces and sees how much better he has grown, but she is still disappointed about him. He can't help but chuckle, adding that "haha" in the background.

And then repeating the chorus until the end with a title drop also at the end.

20250722_141401.png

Same thing with the 8th, it's a vibe track with repetitive verse and one original verse.

This track is about how he cares about someone's interests and how he will care for them.

It's not that much special, but I like this track because of this vibing beat.

20250722_141831.png

IN THIS NEXT SPOILER IS A HIDDEN TRACK, AN EXCLUSIVE AND SUPPOSED TO BE 10th TRACK, BUY THE VINYL AND LISTEN TO IT BEFORE LOOKING INTO THIS REVIEW:

Before "Tell Me What It Is," there is one hidden track but only in the vinyl version (Test Pressing). Which talking about tyler describing his experience on what's happening around 2020s (I think).

And again, not that special but I'm explaining this because the beat mixing is so much banger than the last track.

The last track of this album... I think it's alright, but this track in this album seems like it's rushed, a slow, but vibing beat with "love" lyrics all around.

This track is about Tyler trying to find a love problem and his struggle to find the right person to love because he doesn't know anything about relationships.

At the end of the track, the announcer appeared again, telling the listener that you had finished listening to this album and assuming that you had never touched the glass (see the first spoiler to see what "touching the glass" means)

20250725_092329.png

And that is all the tracks I've covered, just like all other episodes, I'm gonna recap everything I just said.

The beat is all fine, the lyrics are good, the singing is good too, 10 tracks, and 3 artist features.

This album is all produced and written by Tyler, The Creator himself, just like his other albums. For this album, I'm going to give this:

8.9/10

"a perfect start for the album, a good beat comes with body movement, but never last long because the last three, it is fine but it sucked, I'm sorry"

And for the grade, I'm going to give this

A-

because I said so
