(This review will be long so I warned you!)

Hello guys! Today I am doing another fangame review, this time for a fangame called "Five Nights At Berry's" made by @GhostGamesX .

This review will be about the first game, and the next one when I feel like making it will be about the second game. Just to keep things simple, I'm gonna ignore the legacy versions and just talk about the updated versions.

So the main plot is the usual, we are a night guard (forgot his name lol) looking over Berry's Games and Grub Pizzeria

Let's talk about the gameplay,

we have a normal-looking office with a door to the left and a vent to the right, we also have a jammer that will be very important as I explain,

using the jammer when nobody is in the room makes you wait 30 seconds to use it again, but using it when an animatronic is in the room will just make you wait 3 seconds to make the game fair, at some points, the jammer will break and you will need to fix it with the repair button but you need to be fast as an animatronic could get in while it's broken and ruin your run.

Then there is the cameras,

it's pretty obvious what to use them for, but the main focus is the alarm on the bottom-left,

it's not useful for the first 2-3 nights but it is very important for a specific character that I will explain later,

then there is the characters, there is a total of 6 characters, I will explain how each one works, so first, there is Berry and Merry,

they both have the same behavior so I will explain both of their mechanics, they will start from the stage and make their way to the left hallway, they will then get in the office through the left door, when this happens, you must quickly open the jammer and use it to make them leave, then there is Jake and Adam,

Jake starts from the stage, while Adam starts from Parts & Services room, they will make their way to the vent and enter the office through the right, just like Berry and Merry, you must use the jammer to make them leave, then there is the withered character, Alex,

he acts different compared to the other characters, remember that alarm I mentioned? Well, this is where it becomes important, Alex will start in the Parts & Services room and slowly make his way to the left hallway, unlike Berry and Merry though, if he gets in, you are instantly dead, in order to survive, you must play the alarm in the camera he is in to make him go back (it's more recommended to use it when he is in the left hallway though) which makes the cameras important to use, and lastly, there is Shadow Berry (or ?98B according to the extras),

he acts similar to Phantom BB from fnaf 3, he randomly appear on any of the cameras and you must change the camera or close it to make him leave, if you stare at him for too long, he will jumpscare you and break the jammer forcing you to fix it which actually does make him a problem since you need to find Alex in the cameras. And that's all characters for the game.

So what is the ending like? Well, it's the typical "getting your paycheck ending", nothing that special.

And what's the lore? Well, there really isn't much information about why the animatronics are possessed and no lore minigames (although, the legacy version did have lore minigames, I know I said I wouldn't mention the legacy version but I felt like bringing this up.) the lore is more clear in the second game though but I will mention it in that game's review.

So what do I think of the game? Well, let's talk about the pros first, I like how the cameras are important because you must find Alex, obviously it always bothers me when the cameras are useless, I like how you must also always focus like how you must make sure your jammer isn't broken before someone comes in, another thing I like is that Shadow Berry makes a really loud buzzing noise when you see him, it can catch you off guard and make you jump because it's very unexpected and loud, sure it may be annoying for some players but that's my opinion, I also like most of the voice lines, some are just the animatronics saying they are coming for you which is fine for me, but I really like Alex's voice, it's very glitchy and damaged which makes sense as he is withered, and I just find Adam's voice line funny as he just says "Hi there!" in a not so threatening voice, and a detail I really like is how some of the animatronics eyes change when they are in the office, it makes them look more intimidating and creepy, especially Berry and Jake,

Now the cons, it's not really that much tbh, sometimes the jammer will just break right when an animatronic gets in which can be unfair but that's just bad luck, the phone guys voice is too echoed that it's kinda hard to understand what he is trying to say, and my main con for the game is Alex's design,

Of course, I like Alex's mechanic and his voice but his model is just ehhhh, I find it kinda strange, he doesn't look very withered and his model honestly looks kinda rushed, the withering on his ears are also very weird and honestly, I kinda think his old design from the legacy version (LAST TIME I SWEAR) was better,

it just looks more detailed with the wires and missing parts, I don't know if that's just me, it's okay if you disagree about my opinion of his model.

Anyways, that is everything I have to say about this game, so what is my rating? Well, the game is very good and balanced and the mechanics are pretty great at making the gameplay fun, of course, with the cons of the game, I give FNABY Chapter 1 a 9.5/10. I consider this game as one of my top 3 favorite games that @GhostGamesX made. I hope you guys liked this review and I'll see you some other time!
