RINSED - Devlog #12

Hello there!

Its been a while and we were heavily at work since our last playtest phase, so today we can share a lot of cool new stuff with yall! Lets get right into it:

We finally did it! We added the day/night cycle. Finn did an amazing job giving us control over every single feature of the cycle, still it took quite some time till we got the colors right and we still need to tweak a lot but we are almost done. Here is a gif showing off a full day:

Having day and night means that the player has to be able to sleep! Thats why we not only added beds into the taverns but also a crafting recipe for a bedroll! You can now setup camp anywhere and take a nap or sleep till the next morning.

Having day and night also means tweaking a lot of existing things like sounds and so on. Bees for instance dont leave their hives at night and moths appeir next to light sources as long as it is not raining!

Talking about rain, our existing weather system got some tweaks and looks amazing in combination with the day/night cycle! Here is a comfy gif of a rainy road at night:

As a little cute feature, we thought it would be cool to use the night time to do some cool things like starting sky lanterns and so we added those as well! You can buy these, write a wish on them and then let them fly!

In addition to all of those visual things, we tweaked a lot of gameplay elements based on the feedback from our playtesters! The next playtesting session will lunch later this week and we hope to collect more useful feedback to improve the game as good as we can. If the next playtesting session goes well, we look forward to lunch a open alpha later this or at the beginning of the next month!

I hope you liked this weeks devlog (i added as much cool pics and gifs as i could ;) ) and I hope you keep following along our development journey!

Stay healthy and have a nice week!

-Felix

Hey everyone! I just wanted to quickly announce that 9:16 is now free for everyone to download! It's been a while since I worked on this project and I decided that I want everyone to experience this unique project instead of hiding it behind a paywall!

Released a very little very unfinished something!

Medieval times with zombies was always a thing I dreamed off so I messed around with the idea a bit in the past few weeks. This is by no means a finished game! But if you have fun with it: Go ahead!

A little sneak peek on the first Island you will be able to travel to by ship! This island features lush green vegetation, lots of flowers, new wildlife, and of course rare items and a few riddles ;)

Something lurks in the depths of the glow-stone mine... You better pack some torches because you will need one for sure!

Working on a new ship and looking for a name! The best suggestion will make it into the game :)

Post your suggestions on here or over at our discord. A winner will be picked within the next few days!

(The name should fit into the game's world)

Finally happy with the "indoors" part of the game! Adding a small, closed off area to the open world of the forest was challeging but worth it. Lots of enviromental story telling in this one! :)

Made new Flowerpots with different variants for further decorating cities and villages! :)

As the glow stone cave was flooded and then isolated from the outside world for a few hundred years, it developed its own unique and oddly strange flora and fauna!

Its almost been a year since I developed "9:16" and im still proud of what I achieved! I tried to push the visuals to be as photorealistic as possible and keep the gameplay as immersive as I could. Give it a try and tell me what you think :)

Exploring uncharted Islands always comes with a risk! What creatures lurk in the dark forests? What treasures await you in the distant ruins?

Make sure to pack some soup because travelling between islands will soon come to RINSED!
