Frisk
(Please see post titled “Frisk’s Route”)
Toriel
Toriel is the first positive character that is met in Undertale, saving the child’s life and offering them a shelter to keep them safe from the rest of the Underground. Once the monsters are able to live freely on the surface, she makes residence in a suburban neighborhood where she acts as a parent for Frisk. She gains a job as a teacher at the local elementary school. Despite her past tensions with the king of all monsters, they have at least made it so they can speak together
Napstablook
Napstablook is met quite early in Undertale, attacking the player with their tears of depression before being cheered up by the child. In this game, they travel with their cousin, Mettaton, as the background keyboard player for certain shows or concerts that are held. Though, the ghost has dreams of owning their own music shop, even if they’re worried about going against their cousin’s wishes for fear of losing them again.
Sans
Everybody’s (at least, just about everyone’s) favorite skeleton, Sans, is the first friendly face that’s met after traversing through the woods of Snowdin near the beginning of Undertale. Nowadays, he owns a cafe with one of his best friends, Grillby. Sans loves his brother above all else, and even takes multiple jobs past what he already does in hopes of affording whatever crazy antics his brother goes through. Sans is initially wary at involving another human in the already tightly-knit circle of friends the monsters have made together. Though, he starts to grow more attached to your character as the story goes along and he realizes that you’re not a threat.
Papyrus
Everybody else’s favorite skeleton, Papyrus, is the main opposition the player receives going through Snowdin Forest for the first time. In this game, he’s a goofball who’s trying to make it big by occasionally spicing up the recipes at his brother’s cafe. Luckily, though, the dishes always seem to get to the customers with a different look than before Papyrus ‘improved’ them. Papyrus is cheerful and glad to make any friends, even if his brother might take some convincing to grow comfortable with them.
Undyne
The Captain of the previously disbanded Royal Guard tormented the player and put up the largest sign of opposition of almost anybody in the Underground before they were befriended. She got into a relationship with the Royal Scientist before the end of the game, but it turned out that they were more comfortable being just friends shortly after they were set free (ONLY FOR THE CONTEXT OF THIS GAME. ALPHYNE IS MY LIFE, TOO). Undyne is just moving into the apartment next door to the main character in this game, due to her recently getting a job as a personal trainer. Luckily, she’s mellowed out some– but, not much –since she was in the Underground, able to handle most humans without much problem.
Alphys
Alphys was the Royal Scientist of the Underground before she was fired near the end of the game. Being a somewhat shy nerd, she tried to make herself be the hero by putting the player into situations only to help them out of it. However, things get patched up soon after that. Her love was found in Undyne quite close to the end of the game, but it turned out that they were more comfortable being just friends shortly after they were set free (ONLY FOR THE CONTEXT OF THIS GAME. ALPHYNE IS MY LIFE, TOO). Alphys manages to land a job as a pharmacist, where she finds it much easier to use her intelligence to help people than she did Underground (Plus, there’s plenty of free time to watch anime).
Mettaton EX
Mettaton pesters the player all throughout Hotland, trying– and
succeeding –at exploiting their humanity for views on his all-monster network. Though, he gains compassion for the human quite quickly and reverts his ways, even cheering on the player and their friends close to the end of the game. In this game, he’s still struggling to make it big in the mainstream media. However, he’s gotten pretty big locally and even has quite a decent following on YouTube.
Muffet
Muffet is one of the few characters who is actually quite evil in Undertale…
Well, if you’re rude to spiders, that is. Muffet traps Frisk and nearly gets them eaten by a giant spider until they either convince her or she’s given a telegram by other spiders that the human was nice… to spiders. Greed can fuel her quite easily, and that aspect stayed with her when she moved to the surface… even if it’s mellowed out a bit. She owns a bakery nowadays, relying on even just one or two people a day to buy her massively overpriced goods. Though she’s quite rude to the player to begin with– as you’re not so easily swindled by her (mostly) –she does grow to enjoy them.
Asgore
The king of all monsters was the final step in the player’s journey, theoretically. Asgore was forced to fight the human– in his mind –but is willing to accept them into his family after some sense is talked into him by the human’s friends. Once he lives on the surface again, the tension constantly weighing on his shoulders about what would happen if he had to fight fight more humans soon leaves him and he grows much happier, especially once peace is assured. Yet, his past decisions still haunt him… To take his mind off of that, he’s become a gardener at the local school, where he’s managed to repair his relationship with his ex-wife to the point where they can actually speak to each other now.
Ten routes are planned currently, but as I get more into this, I might decide to add more! Occasionally, I may put out a download for one of the scenes on its own. If that sounds like something that would interest you, I recommend staying up to date with this game by shooting it a follow! Thank you again for reading any or all of this that you may have <3
((Also, as a side note… My planning page for this game isn’t even complete yet and it takes up 20 pages on Google Docs. I have plenty of ideas for this.))
