So, due to Current World Events, the progress I’ve been able to make on the game has been lowered slightly. I try to work on the game a little everyday, so I do have a lot to show for this devlog.
I finished two more characters. Jimmy Neutron and Danny Phantom. I spent a lot of time on these characters in order to make their play styles very unique. I hope that when the demo actually comes out, everyone will enjoy playing as these two.
I removed the Training Stage and added four new Stages in it’s place. The Krusty Krab, Fairy World, Timmy’s School, and Ghost Zone Stadium are all playable stages. Some of them are still in beta versions, but images of the stages can be seen on the game page. More stages will definitely come soon.
I never talked a lot about Modes before, so why not do it now? This game has three Modes. Story Mode, Multiplayer, and Party Mode. Story Mode is similar to Arcade Mode in other fighting games. You fight 6 opponents before battling the Final Boss. I’m keeping the identity of the Final Boss hidden until release but the Final Boss will be a character who’s been in a Nicktoons crossover game before. SpongeBob’s Story is currently being worked on. As soon as I get every character done, the Stories will be finished faster.
Multiplayer is like the Versus Mode in fighting games. It can only be played by two human players.
2D Fighter Maker 2002 has a lot of limitations but I’ve been finding ways to overcome those limitations. Party Mode is like a big experiment with the engine’s limitations. In the demo, Party Mode will be in a beta form but it’ll be a Mode that’s unexpected for this type of game. It’ll be unique and I don’t want to spoil what it is yet. You’ll have to find out for yourself😁
Anyway, that’s all for this DevLog. I’m sure that another DevLog will be out around the end of June or beginning of July. I’ve been making great progress on this game and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for me.
